There was NOTHING in the video you linked which indicated Mainieri is going to put Stevenson back into the outfield.

On the contrary, he actually explains why he won't make Stevenson the starter by saying, "How much offense are we willing to sacrifice by putting in a better defensive player?"

Huh? Did you watch the whole video?

He said:

#1. That if Stevenson was just hitting 50 points higher, "it wouldn't even be a question."

#2. That he felt he couldn't start Stevenson when Ross & Jones were struggling, but now that isn't the case anymore.

#3. That he is going to be thinking about it hard the "next 24 hours."

#4. That he is leaning toward starting Stevenson again.

Stevenson might not ever start all 3 games in a weekend series again, but I think it's pretty evidence that he will get at least a few more chances in the near future. As well he should.

I'm not saying he won't keep struggling and end up riding the pine the time for the whole playoffs, but it definitely looks like he will get another shot.

What part of "if" confuses you?

He never said that. I challenge you to point out the time in the video where he said that. The closest he came to mentioning Stevenson starting again was when he said he was going to think about it for the next 24 hours. (The video was from yesterday.)

He then proceeded to explain why putting Stevenson in was not a good idea from an offensive standpoint.
