One less idiot GM for Demps to swindle

Former NBA head coach Flip Saunders is expected to return to the Minnesota Timberwolves as the team’s next president of basketball operations, NBA.com has learned.
...The move, which could become official as soon as next week, would end David Kahn‘s controversial tenure after four seasons and an 89-223 record during which the Timberwolves’ failure to reach the playoffs stretched to nine consecutive seasons. Kahn’s contract includes a team option for 2013-14 that will not be exercised.

I wonder if the next guy is gonna on board with the all-caucasian method used by the Kahn regime

Flip Saunders is coming in next and, from what I hear, part of why Kahn was fired had to do with him and Kevin Love having a poor relationship, as Kahn pissed him off by refusing to give him a five-year contract because he may want to use it on Rubio instead and you can only have one per team.
With Saunders in and Kahn out, I'm wondering how much of a housecleaning Saunders does. It's a foregone conclusion that Derrick Williams and Brandon Roy's non-guaranteed contract will be moved, but I don't know what this means with regards to Pekovic, AK47, Budinger, etc.
The idea of trading Gordon and parts for AK47 and a sign-and-trade of Pekovic is rather appealing to me.

How did he last this long?

Good question.
I think that Love and Rubio panning out as they have helped keep him around considering some of the clusterfricks in their recent history.
These include keeping Jonny Flynn instead of Ty Lawson on the night they drafted three point guards, getting Wesley Johnson instead of DeMarcus Cousins or Greg Monroe, and flipping the draft pick from the Ty Lawson trade for an injured Martell Webster.

Who has Demps swindled? Where has that swindling gotten the Hornets?

Depends on your definition of "swindled".
Julian Wright for Marco Belinelli.
Craig Brackins and Darius Songalia for Jason Smith and Willie Green.
Q-Pon for Vasquez.
Q-Pon is a decent bench contributor for the Grizzlies, but Brackins, Songalia, and Wright did jack-shite for their new teams.
All four of the guys we got ended up being major contributors for us and cost us almost nothing for what we got.

I think you're taking my use of swindle more seriously than it was intended, but specifically with reference to Kahn Demps was able to take advantage of his need for cap space in the Brad Miller for 2nd round picks trade and then about a week and a half later was able to use that
and Kahn's need to dump Wesley Johnson to get Lopez out of Phoenix on the cheap.

These were clearly coordinated moves that benefited everyone.
Minne got from for AK and AS, Phoenix replaced one loser with another and get a first round pick, and the Hornets got Lopez for a good deal that was limited above by trade rules, so no real haggling.
I would say that he and see has made more complicated moves that panned out than the typical GM, and that's a plus. Being able to get value from simple and complex deals is better than just being able to get them from simple deals.
Pondexter goes: Vasquez was superfluous there, so it wasn't really a swindle. Rather, he just saw who that the supply that met his demand who also would use a Q-Pon, who played well last night.

i used to mock him, but KAAAAAAAAAAAHN didn't really do a bad job building the team for this year. his superstar got hurt. how many middle of the pack teams would make the playoffs if they lost a top 10 player? hell, how many middle-salary teams have a top 10 player?

Wolves could've been good if Love wasn't hurt and Rubio wasnt coming off ACL. If they would've committed to playing Williams at the 3, they would have had a nice little lineup. Ship has probably sailed doe

I never could really sort out of Kahn had a master plan, but he was patient, collected assets, and had a clear vision of what he wanted his team to be: skilled point guards feeding dynamic, floor-stretching big men. Plus, he sold ownership on patience. It's sad but true that it's not always possible to put yourself on a 2-year plan to title contention. Not continually deforming your salary in order to preserve flexibility to make moves that will make a difference is important.
