No but there are still tons of areas that don't have access to high speed net. At best they might have hughes net or some crap. That will hurt sales to those people.
Obviously this is all based on rumors, but wasn't it you are someone else who posted something about not being required to be online and always powered on, but the ability to do so for updates etc.
Edit:

I think the rumors come from another rumor that the Xbox has an optional low power state. You have the option to leave it on and online and it will automatically install updates for you as well as be ready to play without any boot up time
Looks like you already mentioned it.

You don't see them bumping the price up at all?
I really think they eventually raise the price, whether or not that is at launch is hard to say.
I could see them offering a 3rd level maybe leaving the gold subscription at the same price and doing something higher, where you would have everything you have with Gold, but adding on a similar service to PS+.
I just made all that up, but I think that would be a pretty cool idea.

Like a cable TV package? Include Netflix and stuff in it? I could dig that.

Can't tell if you are being sarcastic, because wasn't this rumored?
Posted on 4/25/13 at 3:55 pm to taylork37
I haven't seen that rumor but that is something I would probably buy.

Diamond subscription level ftw.

Just give me the ability to watch college sporting events, whether ESPN or Big Ten Network and I will be all over it.
I really want to get rid of the ol' Cable Box

Not following you here. Is this something different than regular MP?
Yeah I probably worded that poorly. I can't sit down with my son and play a computer game against him without having another computer with the game on it. As opposed to consoles, where I can plug in the ps3 or 360 and just start drumming him in whatever game we are playing.
Don't get me wrong, I am a part of the master race for sure. But if there was one complaint, its that PCs and PC games are generally not setup for 2+ people in the same place to play each other unless they have another box setup.

That's true. A lot of games went away from "split screen" online for a while, and there was quite an outcry. It's almost become a big point of emphasis when promoting a game.

That wouldn't be worth mentioning as it's a feature that is already supported in some way by current consoles.

It would be if it is being expanded on to make it more user friendly.
It doesn't really exist on current gens despite what you say. What does exist is pretty damn basic. Leave your Xbox on at full power and it will download games.
That's not really a feature at this point but the way the rumors are describing it for the 720 it is way more of a feature and user friendly.

i know you're just arguing to argue with stout, but you're wrong again.
they are talking about a next level xbox live subscription that encompasses other movie/tv/sport packages. thus no longer needing cable packages.
I have xbox live Gold, but
I still pay for my Netflix subscription don't i?
I still pay for my Hulu Plus subscription don't i?
I still pay for my HBOGO subscription don't i?
If I wanted MLB.TV I would pay a subscription for it wouldn't i?
If I wanted NBA.TV I would pay a subscription for it wouldn't i?
If I wanted Amazon Prime I would pay a subscription for it wouldn't i?

This thread is extremely depressing.
Make it stop.

There's an option to put it in a lower power state that will auto turn off once the download is completed.
PS+ has the same options with all downloads, firmware updates, cloud saves, etc.

That's still pretty basic. Like I said, it becomes a feature worth mentioning when they expand on it further and make it more functional and user friendly.

i didn't realize he was a troll. hard to tell with the amount of ignorance spewing from Arkansas.
no idea. i have no idea how that business model has even survived. stupid lazy people i guess.
their best lamest argument is when they compare them to cars. Mac = Mercedes. PC = Supra with badass engine.
they have no idea.

People convince themselves it's worth it too for browsing Facebook and writing papers. You can find a $300 laptop that does that.

I resent that, I'm not trolling anywhere, the comment about Nintendo was a joke, why don't you list your hardware for color changing tiger?
