Better than walleye
Never had it but heard it was excellent. The name 'walleye' reminds me of those horrid Yankee fishing shows of my youth though. So I doubt I could go into a walleye fry with an open mind.

I ate walleye, northern pike and lake trout for a week straight on a fishing trip in Canada. Walleye was definitely the best.

Odd question. One of the best fish there is to eat.
Depends on how you want to cook it. As far as fried, nothing beats a ground mullet.

I like mullet! Fried right on the sandbar they were caught off of. The Altamaha River has a good mullet run.

Not sure we are talking about the same type of mullet.

I am talking about saltwater mullet that spawn in freshwater. They swim upriver to spawn.

I am talking about Southern Kingfish, not a mullet, but a drum.

Mullet is considered trash in Louisiana...

These people are worse than the chicken beaked duck/bear trash bag guys of the OB

My inlaws are from Mobile and talk about the great mullet. When we go saltwater fishing the don't target mullet in Louisiana...

They are not top shelf in GA, but out of clean water, they taste pretty good as long as they are fresh. Lots of fun to catch on light tackle too.

I remember eating fried mullet sandwiches in Florida years ago. I never figured out if it's what we call mullet. I liked it BTW.
