Pville harvest last week.
Will harvest a second container (same size) this week.
Damn, I live for this time of year.

Literally spent 2.5 hours looking for decent plants, finally found some but most of the berries were still green. How long does it usually take for the berries to turn from green to black? Maybe Manchac is just a terrible area for berries now, but used to be able to pull two 5 gallon buckets of berries out of there in no time.

The dewberries are in. I've been picking them. Tasty.

Little white flowers still. They are everywhere, should be a good crop.

Blackberry bushes along Covington Country Club golf course today were all small and red. I guess they need a a couple more weeks to turn black

How long
Hard to answer. Tons of variables to consider.
Rain, sunlight, soil, etc.
In my patches, it took a month from green to the beginnings of ripening.

Just captuted in my #70769 patches tonight:
DEW (wild):
BLACK (Walmarks and potted):
ETA:
Can't believe no one has mentioned that the blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice.
Yeah, cheesy but pretty damn true in this instance.

Maybe some one came in and picked everything but none of the bushes I saw today had near that many on them.

My heart dropped when I read the below and researched further. The days of enjoying wild black/dewberries may be over once this thing is fully established. Also, if you are growing hybrid blackberries or blueberries in your yard like me, unfortunately, frequent spraying will be required.

Bugs just add protein.
Wha...?
I usually find these on my blackberry bushes:
That's a little more protein than I'm looking for when I eat blackberries. Plus, they stink.

Wow. Late bloom like a boss.
I'm almost finished with the jam I made from this years harvest.

When they first started coming on we cut some back and made them start over. It gives me a second crop.

Geniusosity.
Will try the early cut next summer.
