Doesn't add up, Sams is probably the number 1 retailer in large volume sales where they rely on inventory turnover and operate at around a 10% profit margin...yet they need to sneak around and sell some BBQ pit where they have an extremely limited supply without the blessing of the manufacturer?

My only issue or question with bge is are they really a premium brand like they think they are or are or they simply a company that once had a monopoly on the kamado market, no longer does, and doesn't know how to adapt. (I admit I have no experience but I am looking to buy a kamado in the near future)
These things are not complicated. They are ceramic spheres with two vents. Why do I want to pay hundreds more for a brand name when the lower cost competitors have similar build quality and function? I think when I buy one in the next few weeks I will probably go with one of the lower cost alternatives unless there is some big difference. If I am going to pay a premium for it then I might as well support made in the USA and get a primo.
I guess what I am asking is bge once had a monopoly and made a killing in the market. Do they still have some advantage or am I paying more for the same thing just because it says bge on it?

so finally pulled the trigger on the Char-Griller Akorn Komado cooker. Just not ready to drop close to a grand on a grill and will use this guy for a few years to get my grilling/smoking methods down before i move to the next step. Watching videos and reading reviews I feel this is perfect for what I need and at $300 shipped next day from Amazon its not breaking the bank.

RE the bGE premium price, some choose to pay it because of the dealer experience. Good dealers often throw in a few freebies, accessories, charcoal, etc, as well as offer delivery and setup. Eggs aren't exactly lightweight, and the assembly does require some mechanical aptitude. I bought mine abt three years ago for $850, delivered to my door and assembled on site. Took two guys about 45 minutes to an hour, and they knew what they were doing. Would have taken me two to three hours, easy, as a novice. That was worth $$ to me. YMMMV.

Look up some videos on YouTube for the user ManCaveMeals.
He's done some cooks on the Char-Griller Kamado that may help you out.

Congrats CE Tiger.
What color did you get? This one seems like a good deal for a kamado and I have heard nothing but things about them. It should be a good way to get into kamado cooking and make sure you like it. Kamado guru is a good site for this one to see what other guys have done.
You should post up here when you start cooking with it. I would be interested.

Are they not authorized?
I guess when spending 600 dollars I should be calling their phone number while Im at Sams looking at making this purchase I guess.
Cant find any warranty info either.
Seeing as they are imported from Canada though K-Mart vs Cartier would apply and they would have to honor the warranty regardless though.

I got the Brown off amazon as it was $50 cheaper than the red/black. Mancavemeal's video sold me on it. I will post about it when I get it in tomorrow and put it together.

I'm no corporate sleuth but it's not that hard to figure out who's supplying sams... (if they wanted to)...
1) walk into sams and write down serial number from bge
2) match serial number to dist
3) ???
4) profit!
like i said in my other thread, i hope that i like the kamado i got for free because i want to buy a good one. but i will not buy a bge. it's like a frickin cult.

If a BGE is won on The Price is Right, does it have a warranty?
