Behind The Scenes: Mickey's go to guy

since it's a slow news holiday weekend I thought it a good time in the middle of free agency to recognize a cog that makes the Saints machine tick smoothly-
Entering his fifth season with the Saints and 12th in the NFL, Director of Football Administration Khai Harley’s primary focus is salary cap management. He works in conjunction with the player personnel department, making the club’s player acquisitions fit within the structure of the cap. His duties also include contract negotiations, coordinating different areas of football operations and being involved in the administrative functions of running the club.
Harley has a deep background in NFL salary cap administration, Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) regulations, and the research of player contracts. He arrived in New Orleans in 2008 after serving for five years as the Manager of Labor Operations with the NFL Management Council. He was responsible for ensuring personnel transactions and player contracts submitted by each team complied with the CBA and the NFL’s Constitution & Bylaws while also providing advice to club officials during contract negotiations.
On a daily basis, Harley researches contracts and cap statistics from not only the club but from around the league. It is similar to the daily and yearly reconciliation he did for all 32 clubs in his former position, where he calculated cap figures for each team, made adjustments for the following year and analyzed statistical trends related to player signings.

I wonder if he would take a serious invitation to our little forum? Sounds like he's the real answer man for all those endless cap questions.

I'd call him the numbers boss. Underlings do the legwork and computations. He analyzes and makes the command decision calls. Many of you prolly have known highly successful leaders that similarly have a right hand man. Maybe translate that as if you are successful enough you don't have to even do your own fapping.

Thanks for posting about Ryan Pace. He is a very important person in the Saints FO. Every serious Saints fan should read up on Mr. Pace. He's in charge of scouting, which is very important.

So Loomis isn't a talent evaluator and he isn't the guy who crunches the numbers. He's basically a talking head. Got it.

Khai is Loomis's Stringer Bell.
...seriously, that would be an awesome job.

Right, because CEOs, GMs, Presidents just do everything and don't have anyone under them doing all of the dirty work. They work 300 hours a week, 463 days a year.
