rewatched the episode last night. i was reading the non-reader thread yesterday (sensitive bunch) and they were asking about Harrenhal.. well if you noticed there was an old man that survived that they gave water to. i'm assuming he will fill them in on what happened? is this another HBO budget short cut?

I believe they said that guy was Qyburn, obviously his role will be different from the books as it now appears he was attacked by the Mummers.

They did, but his role is pretty big in the development of Ser Strong. They need to get him back to making that happen.

How do y'all think they are gonna handle the Bloody Murmers and Vargo Hoat? I hope they don't frick it up because its some of my favorite scenes in the book. Hoat is a maniac. His story line with Jaime is awesome.

Rumor is that Hoat is replaced by Bolton's "best hunter" named Locke
Edt- The Lisp would have been cool for half a scene, then extremely annoying on TV

Although the previous two seasons of the show have remained quite faithful to the plot of the original books by George R. R. Martin — give or take a few minor differences — Turner, who plays the eldest daughter of Ned Stark, warned that “[in] season 3, there are kind of bigger differences. The book readers will be super shocked.”
And while season three primarily depicts the events in the first half of the third novel, A Storm of Swords, Martin told Wired that “the divisions into novels is almost arbitrary. I’m writing one story that has a beginning and quite a lot of middle, and hopefully an end.”
the non-book readers will await the inevitable meltdown

At this point we all know that they won't be able to really do the book series justice because of budget constraints, actor/actress commitments, time constraints, etc. I'd much rather they take the liberties and provide a good story for non-readers and readers alike then half-arse tell the story because of obvious hurdles. It's still one of, if not the, best show on TV right now despite that. I just assume they take some liberties as long as they meet the major end games (i.e. the Red Wedding) for storylines when it's said and done.

I'm fine with changes as long as the major plot lines are there. If I wanted a word for word rehash of the book, I would read the book again.

I expected as much.
I think you'll see Daeny in the seven kingdoms sooner rather than later. There's no reason to let her wander around the middle east for two seasons without accomplishing anything.
Also wouldn't surprise me if Tyrion is exiled sooner, and has a following with him. Who knows, he could even start his own rebellion. The comment Tywin made about not being able to prove he isn't his son was obvious foreshadowing. HBO has to dumb things down because your average viewer isn't going to connect the dots like readers do. The show has evolved to make him the lead character so he really does need a leadership role of some sort.
