I won't apologize for wanting the USA to be more than a team who hopes to go on the road and eek out draws. The way some people are reacting, most notably some of the players, shows that they are perfectly fine with where we are as a soccer nation right now.
We have beaten Italy in Italy. Beat Mexico in Mexico. Friendlies yes, but still show progress. Also earned a point at Azteca in qualifying, something that has only been done once before. Add this together and I say its progress.....

After the 0-0 tie, the first question asked of the U.S. coach, by a Mexican journalist in Spanish was, “Jurgen, is this result a victory for you?” “No, it’s a tie,”
I agree with Randy. Was this a good result? Absolutely but the way the team is parading around like they just accomplished some amazing feat is a little disheartening.

Yeah, I'm having a tough time finding evidence of some over the top celebration.

A. It's only happened twice.
B. Randy's exaggerating and leaving out details in true Randy fashion, so I wouldn't just jump into agreeing with him.
C. Parade pics, please.

So what? Expect something better and then maybe you aren't so excited for not winning.

I watched the match and agree with his assessment regardless if he left out any details in true Randy fashion.

you're better than that

Ah, so it's only win or lose for you?

I don't follow this line of logic. Expecting something better doesn't mean you can't be excited, for what is, for all intents and purposes, a historic draw. Getting a result against Mexico in Azteca is a superb outcome. I don't know if I can reiterate this enough. Yet people are acting as if we are celebrating this result as if it was a victory, which I think is clear that we aren't. This board is tame in comparison to the 1-0 win in the same venue against the Mexicans in August. In general, people are acting the way they should act, as in they are happy we got a result in a place where we historically have struggled to get anything.

Did you start watching our national team this year? Serious question.

no. I've watched since 2002 world cup

Yea, I do think it was a positive result as I originally said. I just think there is a little too much happiness for a draw vs Mexico. It wasn't long ago we were superior to Mexico. We got the draw, it was good and time to move on.

Damn, do you people even read what people are saying or does someone just send up the homo signal and everyone has to come running in full bitch mode. Of course there are jackasses like Jim Rome who condescendingly say stuff just to be a hard arse and to piss off soccer people but nobody on this board is doing that.
Do you really not understand the difference in being happy with getting a point and celebrating like it was some historic result? I mean if Reading goes into Old Trafford and gets a point they should celebrate. Unless you think of the U.S. as Reading and Mexico as Man United then you should be a little put off by the post game reaction.
Some people hope for more.

look after the Honduras match I'm just glad Mexico didn't drop 3 goals on us.
Which they really should've.
Which they really should've.

I think a lot of the celebration was because of the entire situation. Having a considerable amount of players hurt plus another key guy taking a break and they were able to come out of that dump with a point for only the second time ever. Not to mention an article about how people are unhappy with the team came out less than a week before the first game. I think it was more than just "Yay we tied Mexico" but more we just went through a bunch of shite and got 4 points in 2 games one of which is our toughest opponent away from the states.
Also could be a going away party. These guys have been together for like 2 weeks now and won't see each other again for a while :nohomo:
