In the past year Texas has created more jobs than the other 49 states combined.

Interesting little nugget I learned today.

I am almost inclined to believe it, but La has created a bunch of oil and gas jobs too.
I guess TX and LA are making quite a few in DC unhappy right now.

I'm assuming they are counting states with job losses as -x and not 0...

I was back in Frisco, TX for 2 weeks and couldn't believe the new construction.

La has a dearth of skilled labor in Oil & Gas...

Correct, and as for the link, his name is Dennis Murphree.

Then it really isn't impressive. Only like 5 states had net new jobs created: Texas, Louisiana, North Dakota are the big 3...some major population centers are bleeding.

Pennsylvania has a ton of natural gas jobs too being created. My uncle does air compressor distribution and he said he can't get his orders filled fast enough to please the demand for new plants/factories and gas drilling interests

Prob with PA is they are doing terrible outside of bio-tech in PIT and the Marcellus Shale. So those jobs created are really just filling the gap for all the losses.

Did I say anything about impressive?

I suppose not but Texans, and especially Aggies, are all about patting themselves on the back
Cool figure but really highlights how shitty the economy is for non-business friendly states.

I live in Dallas and I'm in oil and gas, so this isn't surprising at all. Between the Eagle Ford, Eaglebine, Barnett Shale and developing oil play in the Barnett, Pearsall, all the Permian/W TX plus all the associated pipelines, rail, trucking, refining complex, and import/export ability, Texas is better positioned than any state in the nation. It's simply mind boggling the jobs that are associated with a single well.
What's sad is the current administration taking credit for the job creation when all the credit should go to private sector/American ingenuity. We don't need government funds to figure out how to become energy independent, companies are trying to figure out how to make the most of this nation's abundant resources every day, the same way they have been forever. The natural resource plays are carrying this economy with a few select others. It's also extremely unfortunate that the industry gets the terrible wrap it does due to environmental negativity and "high" gas prices.

The price of oil and gas has created a bunch of jobs in LA, TX and ND....the state or their govt did create them.
