You also need a whistle or airhorn.
Nope. Although I highly recommend it:

we need to make a sticker for only those on the OB with yaks
Just played around on this, the sticker would be just the white oval with the lettering; kind of like the 13.1 stickers I see all over town.

I know they are much more expensive, but once you fish in a hobie it is tough to go back to any other
I love my outback. It is nothing to get around the marsh. I usually do 4-5 miles per trip. Nothing like traveling around an entire red fish pond fishing the bank without having to pick up the paddle once.

This is definitely the case. I started yak fishing during a summer I spent in St. Pete and it was required over there.

I know it's out of your budget but for Louisiana waters I don't think you can beat a KC kayak.
That said its about 700-800$ over your budget
Also don't make the same mistake I did and but a new kayak check our bckfc for the buy/sell/trade and they will be more than willing to help you get a good

+1 on bckfc. There are always people selling good used kayaks. Check la sportsman as well.
The KC is a good yak. But I sold mine and bought a Hobie Outback.
