I've seen this asked several times here and never seen an answer. I had high hopes for him coming into the season

Obviously the coaches don't think he's ready.

Mitch was pitching for his old team last summer when he got hazed and paddled pretty bad by O'Banion. He still hasn't recovered.

say they will pitch him soon, working on things - he only pitched two years before the year, might go midweek

His stuff is so weak even Javi's approach works.
Oh yeah, fire Javi!

I think he's more like high 80's to low 90's.

Come on it was ONLY 154 for Sewald.
Gibbs for Jesuit threw 193.

According to his old pitching coach, he'll be making his debut on Tuesday.
Take that FWIW.

This is what I remember as well. Not a knock on him but these claims about pitching velocity are like 40 times in high school football. He needs to add some muscle to his frame and he will throw even harder.

Yep, getting the start tomorrow. :)

He was clocked at 92mph at a perfect game event in October of 2011. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he sits low 90s and eventually tops out mid 90s.

Good time to start him. We could throw Tyler Hanover's 120mph pitch from 3rd to 1st all game against Alcorn State and still win by 10+ runs.
Ugh, hate playing these nonsense SWAC teams.

I thought Mainieri said in a pre- or post-game interview a while back that he will be redshirting. Guess not.

LSU pitching coach Alan Dunn said Sewald isn’t having problems, he just needs more time on the mound.
“He kind of got behind from a health standpoint,” Dunn said. “So we’re trying to play catch-up a little bit and get him as many opportunities on the mound as we can so that he’s feeling his release point and feeling comfortable with locating his stuff.”
Dunn, like the other coaches, was unaware of Sewald’s unique role in giving the postgame speeches, but said it takes every player on the team contributing to make everything work. Whether it’s keeping a chart, observing the other team or building up a teammate, it’s all important.
“You know, if you’re not pitching or having been in the heat of the battle, there’s something you can do over here in the dugout,” Dunn said. “There’s a lot of things that you can do that’s going to benefit this team.”
“He’s going to get his opportunity,” Dunn said. “Obviously patience and timing are the key.”
LSU coach Paul Mainieri and Dunn will evaluate Sewald’s progress in the bullpen and play him at the appropriate time. Until then, fans won’t find Sewald shining on the mound but instead inspiring his the teammates to throw the strikeouts and hit the home runs.
