Sports Illustrated's Andy Staples, on "Inside College Football" leaves LSU out of the SEC schools that can contend for the BCS Championship; says that only "[f]ive SEC schools (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Texas A&M) will start next season with either reasonable or semi-plausible national title dreams." LINK

The national media writers aren't giving LSU's players and coaches much respect in their ability to pull it together. Has no-one paid attention to the recruiting classes we've had over the past years, and also not paid attention to the coaching moves?

Combination of schedule and what LSU lost

It's not a big deal.. no one wins a national championship in March

I'm happy to see things like this. I'd rather the media leave us completely of their lists and let us fly unde th radar instead of saying something like "LSU lost almost a dozen underclassmen, but they are LSU so they will be top 5. Anything less would be a colossal disappointment." I am glad we get to frame this season on our own terms.

Have you not paid attention to the mistakes and blunders that the Head coach has made year after year. He couldn't win a NC with more NFL talent then any team in the country (when you combine the last 2 years) Why do you expect that to change now?

I'd leave us out too. Our offense was sporadic last season and our defense carried us at times. The best parts of that defense are now gone. Are we talented? Of course. But we have alot to prove. I look forward to seeing us prove it.

They are looking at the schedule. The Baltimore Ravens couldn't win the NC next year with our schedule.

A&M? Jesus H...shouldn't a team be required to win a conf title in the last decade or so before everyone starts jumping on their jocks?

And some of y'all said that the Chicken Bowl didn't matter.

Win that game, and LSU is top 7-8 preseason. We lost it, and now we're going to be in the 15-20 range.

It's entirely understandable for the national media to feel that way given our crappy offensive production the last few years, our disappointing season results, the huge number of impact players we lost. Even many local fans who wear purple and gold sunglasses realize our chances of competing for the BCS are in fact dimenished.

It doesnt matter

If we win all of our games, $100 says we are in the national championship.
