Bay Boat dilemma, need advice from you...

This will be my first bay boat. Bottom line, I am torn in choosing between a T-top and a bimini.
Convince me on what I need. I will also use the boat here on the Coosa River chain for leisure and fishing as well as the coast. So both options have their pros and cons.

T-top

I have a T-top at some points I absolutely hate it and sometimes I love it. Essentially it takes away at least one spot of fishing in the boat. Bimini just seems like a royal pain in the arse.

For leisure on a river system? Disagree. For coastal fishing you don't need either.

This.
But I think the hate for the bimini is greater than the hate for the T-top. Also, look into T-tops that fold down. Depending on where you fish, you may find yourself trying to get under low bridges in hi tide conditions and the ability to fold them to the front works well.

Screw a T-top for a bay boat. It will just get in the way. Set up for bimini and remove it when you fish and insert it when you play or when your fish and it's hot as hell.

What kind of boat you looking at? And whatever it is do not get a Bimini top. They are horrible unless you aren't moving or fishing and just using it for shade. Much better with a custom t-top.

Neither. Hats and sunscreen dude.

This. It's awesome when it's blazing hot which is most of the time in S.LA, but it definitely restricts fishing a little bit with more people on the boat. As long as everyone on the boat knows what they're doing in regards to casting, it works out great. Also, The t-top on our boat probably restricts the top speed by 4-5 mph which isn't a big deal. It's nice to be able to hold onto when you're running.

This is where the part about him using the boat for leisure on rivers comes into play. Sure don't need a t-top for that. Bimini would be nice. I can't stand either when fishing.

I should have added in that i have 2 little kids, so a day on the river would be nice to have a bimini.
Its a tough decsion, but you guys are more experienced than me. Can you still cast easy from the front deck with the bimini up?

Typically yes. My vote is for a bimini. T-tops don't provide a ton of shade.

Bimini and little kids casting aren't a good combination. I don't have either on my current boat, they just get in the way. What kind of boat is it?

Look, the proper advice has been given by the one that read the question and details and took his needs into consideration.
I deem this thread over.
