STP is one of my all time favorite bands. However, I agree there are better bands out there but IMO they're the most "rock n roll" rock band out there

I like bands that dont sound the same on every album and grow.

I will say I think Trace may be the best post UT output from either band...
Probably so. I wore that one out.
Straightaways was kind of meh but Wide Swing was pretty good.
I'd still pick Wilco.

That's a shame b/c I think Tweedy has been one of the best songwriters the last 10 years.

I like em both... lean more towards Wilco the past 15 years (although, upon break up, I'd have bet my life Farrar would have been the more successful of the two)
I understand the reasons why there are detractors for both, for valid reasons... just a matter of taste

well wilco doesnt suck, so, not sure what you're talking about. tweedy is one of the best song writers of this generation.

Loved A.M. Liked a few songs after that. Give me Jay Farrar any day over Tweedy.

Wow, wilco sucks to you?
Never really heard anyone ever express how they think wilco sucks.
What sucks about them?

Not on a national level. At all.

As far as mainstream appeal?
Stp has them both beat

Listen Mr. TheDoc. This has been discussed before.

STP ..COULD have been the best...they certainly had the potential. There was a span there where they were cranking out some really good stuff.
Sadly, potential doesn't mean squat.
