Top Business Casual Nola Restaurants

My parents are coming to visit from Canada next week and, per their tradition, are taking me and my wife out for dinner at a restaurant of our choice. The only thing is that my dad wears a suit every day for work and doesn't want to have to bring one on his vacation.
I'm not familiar with the various restaurants' dress codes so I turn to you guys for advice. What are some of the best restaurants where a nice button-down shirt and dress pants would be appropriate to wear?

Most nice places will allow a button down and nice pants, especially in the quarter. Places that cater to a lot of tourists tend to be pretty lenient about that kind of thing. You will go into super nice places and see people in jeans.

Honestly, you can wear that in just about any restaurant in NOLA except Commander's and Galatoire's. And you could probably get away with it at those places as well.

Don't suite unless u are at a place like August, Stella, etc. most every other place is fine with business casual

Galatoire's requires a jacket. I can't think of another restaurant that still requires that.

They'll eat anything really. The only thing is that my mom is a low-sodium diet so it might to be somewhere that wouldn't mind adjusting for that, if necessary.
Also, they lived for a couple of years in southwestern Louisiana so it doesn't have to be a cajun or touristy restaurant.

Suits are not required at Commander's to my knowledge.

I live in Nola, but I've only been here for a little over a year so I'm still discovering the culinary scene. We've been to Commander's before with them when they were down for my wedding and I think they've been to Mr. B's. Other than that anything would be fair game.
I've always wanted to try Gautreau's. Is that too upscale for business casual?

Stop trying to base your decision off of wardrobe. As long as you're not in cutoff jean shorts, flip flops and a tank top you can get into most places in New Orleans.
What exactly is your family's idea of biz cas? Slacks and a button-up? I personally don't wear jeans when I'm going out to dinner, but even still you could probably get away with it most places.

I think biz cas is fine for gautreau's, although it's a little fancy pants.
I'd do coquette. Upscale dining in a pretty casual setting. Everytime I've been I wore jeans and a polo and was in good company.

Galatoire's still requires that men wear jackets. They even have them there, I believe, or they did.
You might consider:
Clancy's
Upperline
Petite Grocery
Cochon
Herbsaint
There are a ton out there. Are you looking for a specific type of food? Seriously, business casual is accepted everywhere except Galatoire's. It's acceptable, though maybe not the prevailing choice of some, at August.

You would be fine at Gautreau's. It's a small place and if you want a reservation there, make it early. Sometimes, it's difficult especially on weekends.

I used to live directly across the street from Gautreaus. Never have I heard anything so pervasively loud as the streetside garbage cans full of wine bottles being dumped in the morning.

Food really doesn't matter. My parents have traveled extensively so they'll eat anything. I'm more concerned about atmosphere than location. A place with some history would be nice, maybe uptown or french quarter would be preferred. Price range maybe around $25 for an entree. I don't see them very often so we can splurge a bit but since they insist of treating us, I don't want them to spend $100/person.
