It's the fun list. I didn't put much effort into ranking them and I left out a lot of older movies. Frankly, I have far too many favorites and ranking a top 40 would take days.
I may do a write-up or two, but I don't need to be on your gay little list.

Nevertheless, I listed the 40 movies I consider to be the best I've seen (i.e., my personal favorites). Don't think too much into it. If everyone lists their 40 favorite movies, I expect there will be >200 on the combined list. If you do what you say - "purposely leave off certain movies that are listed multiple times in favor of movies that don't suck, but aren't nearly as good" - then the rankings lose their significance. I think it would be cool if the 200 movies listed represented the M/TV board's 200 favorite movies. In order.
what I enjoy the most is the biggest aspect of my decision but sometimes if I can't decide between two movies. Lets say its like the Departed vs Citizen Kane, I may give the nod to Citizen Kane simply because it has more historical accomplishments, aka one of the greatest movies of the past century, but that would only happen as I said if I couldn't decide which one is better.

Seems like I need to see Assassination again. I can't really think of a western in the last 15 years off-hand I would describe as great, besides the tv show Deadwood. (there are quite a few that are very good, however, imo).
I'd definitely give it another try.
You might have already seen them but The Proposition is really good and Appaloosa is worth a watch. Those and Open Range would be the past 15 years of westerns discussion I guess.
Edit: 3:10 to Yuma remake and Django would be on the list. I haven't seen Django though.

I submitted an off the top of my head list. it will be fixed and made final at a later time (at work now, can't be at peace to think too hard).
I would like to take a stab at writing some if that is ok. How does it work/ do you assign the movies to review, or do i just write on whatever the hell i want?

I'm around here and there. Lately whenever I check the board here the threads I see don't really interest me any.

No she wouldn't. She won't watch a movie if it has violence in it.

Say Chinatown ranks outside the top 15-20, you just gonna use the write ups that have already been done? Or ones that I've already wrote for like Silemce of the Lambs and Batman Begins/The Dark Knight, that have a good shot at being in the top 20, would you just use the ones I've already done or have people write new ones?

Freaux, you forgot to add jamohn to the p/cp list.

Given that the Dark Knight is only even on 3 of 14 ballots at this point, I think the odds are pretty small it's going to be top 20, barring some crazy top 5 push by multiple voters, or some seriously fuzzy math.

actually its 2 out of 14.
You officially need to not be a ballot counter OM.
1987, flvelo12, and ssgtiger at the moment.

FWIW, Batman Begins was the first runner-up on my list (i.e., #41). The Dark Knight would've been ranked a little lower than that.

Yeah, not trying to diss it. I would have both just inside my top 50 or right outside that most likely, just not seeing them being top 20.

Yeah I liked all of those actually--some of them a lot.
If you considered Kill Bill a western, I'd put that in the great category.

Btw I can write something if you need help on that score.
Also are people using the one director-one film principle here?
