West Ham 2001
Had a professor at UF that always put match highlights on his powerpoints. Went to a game in 2007 and made my obsession a little worse. Can't wait to go back.

Manchester United.
Born and Raised in Manchester. Also, my twin brother decided to support Liverpool (family support them) and I wanted to be different.

Not sure he has ever forgiven me. I started following United in the early '90s so I think I made the right choice...

I started getting interested in soccer for the 2010 World Cup. I fell in love with Landon Donovan putting the team on his back.
From that World Cup, I was also amazed with Diego Forlan and idolized Luis Suarez's handball because it was the most heads-up play I have ever seen in any sport. Also, rockchalkshittyusername and I had previously discussed the Luis Suarez scenario before it even happened, so that was cool.
By the end of the 2010-2011 club season, I tried to decide on a team. My friend and I at college always joked around about Wolverhampton for whatever reason, so I arbitrarily decided to follow them. I was overjoyed when they stayed up on Survival Sunday at the end of the season, and I was hooked. They also had a surprisingly impressive history.
I knew they would never let me down.
Now, they are in the relegation zone of the championship. frick.
Also, I like Real Madrid because Cristiano Ronaldo and Mesut Ozil are my favorite non-American players.

When I was 11 or 12 (I'm 31 now) my aunt and uncle who visited England regularly sent me a hat with a team logo on it that I'd never heard of. She even had to write "soccer team" on the tag to help me out. As it turns out, it was a Liverpool hat so I started following the club as best I could. Back in those days there were no matches on tv or internet streams (hell there barely was an internet). It wasn't until about 10 years ago that I was able to start watching some matches on any regular basis. People who have started following a club in the past few years don't realize how easy they have it. Even teams in the relegation zone get matches televised regularly now. I'm incredibly fortunate to be able to watch the club I love every time they suit up now and I'll never take that for granted. I still have that hat, though I don't wear it because I hope to pass it along to my son or daughter one day. I'm just thankful it wasn't a United hat.

1. I'm a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and I read an article back around that time that compared NFL teams to EPL clubs, and it mentioned how NUFC fans were as passionate as Steelers fans.
just don't even know where to start, then again typical steelers fans with a over valued sense of self worth. Are you from pittsburgh or parents from there. B/c yinzers don't like people who jump on their wagon.
steelers fans loads of bandwagoners from all over.
Newcaslte fans are more like seahawks if anything loud/crazy and isolated from the rest of the country for the most part other than sunderland/middlesborough

they add 5 minutes to the end of every game
3 yellows and you are kicked out.

Planned a trip to Munich about 2 years ago and started getting into FC Bayern and other soccer stuff since we'd be there during the 2012 Euro Cup.
Watched them plow through last year's Champions League before losing in 1986 Red Sox fashion...
I've kept up with them in the Bundesliga much better this season, DVR'ing replays on GolTV.
It's a really fun team to watch...their ball movement is fluid and creative, their defense is about as good as it gets, and I especially like seeing the different forward combinations that Jupp is able to use (Mandzo/Müller vs. Gomez/Robben)...plus, watching Ribery run around all over the field is entertaining...
Here's hoping for Champions League redemption!![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconcheers.gif)

good lord do i feel old.
In 1977, I watched a PBS show every weekend called Soccer Made in Germany. That year, Kevin Keegan had moved from Liverpool to Hamburg and was regularly featured in the show. My best friend at the time was a huge Beetles fan (I think his parents did it to him), and the connection between seeing Keegan and Liverpool sparked an interest (I had no understanding of how Liverpool fans viewed Keegan's move at that time. Likewise, I had no idea that there was more than one team in Liverpool that the Beetles could possibly have supported. I was only 9). At some point around then or a few years later, the Keegan boots manufactured by Patrick were the ones to have. For some reason, my Italian soccer coach was okay with me being a 'Pool fan but not a Hamburg fan. When I was older and could get more informaiton on a semi-regular basis and learn more about the history of the club, there was Macca then Fowler then Owen that re-ignited the fascination.
Now my 15 year old son has a huge Liverpool banner on his wall and asked for the new Warrior home shirt for Christmas. He then convinced his mother to order me a classic '86 Crown Paints jersey. (my daughter on the other hand, loves to torture her older brother and comes home from every tournament with some new ManU bobble or trinket)
