Turkey choke comparison

I'm always thinking there is a better combination of choke/load that I'm missing. Maybe we could share combos and somebody could find something better than what they are currently using?
My setup
Benelli Nova
Primos Jelly Head Choke
3.5" Hevi Blend
290 pellets in an 8.5x11 sheet of paper at 40 yds
200 pellets in same sheet at 60 yds

That's a fantastic combo you have.
Have you tried the Hevi-Shot choke made for the blend?

No, but I started this thread in hopes someone has and can give me justification to buy one

Will certainly knock the hell out of turkey. I usually use a 10" circle to measure but thats plenty of pellets. With Hevi's I'm not really a fan of the blend as 6's have done work for me and I dont see the need for 5's and larger. You could try straight 6's or even 7's and probably get a denser pattern with 10% or more payload. Whats the choke constriction? I'm guessing .670ish..?
I've switched to 20 gauge using #9 TSS and with a 2 3/4" mag I'm getting 115 in in 10" circle...

Oh yeah, it rocks em pretty good, I just sit around all day thinking there must be a way to improve it.
It's .655 I think. Wicked tight. I shot some 6s through it and the pellet count was about the same or maybe a hair less. I don't know if I could find anything that does better, but I thought someone might have.
For the record, I don't shoot turkeys every day at 60 yds. Most are 30-45 yds, some 10 feet, some 50 yds.

Nitro Shell Company. Custom designed shells for your setup for maximum performance. You've got a pretty sweet setup anyways

Cant imagine theres a lot of room for improvement on what you got. A lot of folks really like the Indian Creek chokes and the flightcontrol Federal loads. If you go this route just make sure you get a choke without wadcatchers as the wad is what makes the Federal's work so well. Or I could line you up with the guy who does my custom loads.
Not a fan of Nitro's although many are. I dont see enough benefit in 12 gauges to justify the additional expense over Hevi/FC. They also had some quality issues where the shells were loaded well beyond SAAMI pressure ratings. I understand this has been fixed...

I appreciate the offer. I know there's a way to improve, but since switching to the setup I have I'm 15/16 I think. I was just curious if someone had a setup I wasn't aware of.
For the record, the one I missed was about 15 feet. I folded him up like a dove on the 2nd shot though.

The close shots are always the toughest...

When I was in college I had a friend who had turkeys on his place but didn't know what to do. I went with him one morning to tag along. Long story short, turkey flew down and damn near landed on us. He missed the bird, I shot him as he flew off. Fella never turkey hunted again. Said he'd been trying for years with no luck, and if he couldn't do it at point-blank he wasn't trying again. I think he's a Mississippi state trooper now.

Benelli SBE II
Trulock Turkey Choke
3.5 Hevi Shot
I forgot the constriction on the choke, will have to check, and I'll report the number of pellets when I shoot next week. I tried the blended load and they didn't pattern as well as the regular 5's or 6's for whatever reason.

I was given a Briley Invector Plus, Turkey Choke for my Browning 12 ga.
I don't know anything about it. I haven't been out to pattern it yet. Hopefully it's OK.
Last year was my first year turkey hunting. The very first trip out I had one just about land on top of me. I spooked him, turning around to take a shot and didn't see anything the rest of the year.
Can't wait til opening day.
