Beausoleil Review

My wife and I went to Beausoleil tonight for dinner and it was very good.
We had the Foie Gras, Fried Eggplant, Boudin Balls, and Veal Sweetbreads for our appetizers.
First time i have had foie gras and it was really good. Very rich flavor with a quail egg on top along with a waffle underneath. The fried eggplant was also good. Cut thin so it was crispy with a spicy marinara. The boudin balls were different than I have ever had. They were mostly white inside instead of the usual brownish gray color of pork. They were good though. The sweetbreads were also good. have only had them once before and it was pork I believe. These were cut long and a little more firm but had a good flavor.
We split the Short Ribs for our entree and they were good. I probably would not order them again though. We finished it off with butter pecan ice cream over butter scotch bread pudding.
Drinks: I had the strawberry salty dog which was pretty good and then a Sazerac. The sazerac was excellent.
Wife had the Pimms up, which is like a pimms cup but with cucumber vodka and the strawberry cobbler which is champagne with diced strawberries and another liquor in it that i can not remember the name of.
Overall, the food was great. One of my favorite baton rouge restaurants. Its my birthday week and I had Roberto's saturday, Louisiana Lagniappe Tuesday, and Beausoleil tonight.

I'm a fan and I wasn't when he first opened. He's gotten better. I like the foie gras and the little shrimp and grit andouille app which would make the other thread meltdown.
I like the rabbit spaetzle. I don't order short ribs out because my mother has made them for fifty years and I've made them for thirty so I'm particular and everyone is serving them now.
The pork cheeks are good and that salmon with lentils is good as well.
Glad you liked it.
Gotten a better wine list as well lately.

I was hoping to get the pork cheeks tonight, but tonight was their first night with the new menu and it is no longer on it.

Well I did not mean it like that. I just meant the week in which my birthday takes place. My parents treated us to Robertos, we had a free meal at LL and went to Beausoleil for my actual birthday. Sorry for partying

I love Beausoleil. I'm eating lunch here right now.
I concur on the pork cheeks dish at Ruffino's. It is sinfully delicious! Damn, I want that dish right now! It has a smoky Benton bacon jam on top of the pork cheeks. It's really a great dish.
