To play devil's advocate (barely):

-They're 8-1 since Rondo went down.
-A Pierce/KG/Howard frontcourt would be pretty loaded, especially in the east.
-You laugh about it, but they beat the Heat a week ago without Rondo. If they can convert a guy that didn't even play in that game into potentially the best C in the NBA, who's to say they can't do it 4 times in the playoffs?

It's a risky move, but with the way the Celtics have been playing without RR, you can't assume that it would be a terrible move.

exactly why would you mess with that by adding a locker room cancer like Howard?

1) this is probably a bullshite rumor floated by someone outside of the Lakers or Celtics management.

2) I hate how Howard has behaved over the last 2-3 years but I'm torn about whether it would be a bad idea if the rumor were legit.

The Celtics are really at the absolute end of their run with Pierce and Garnett. Does getting DH make them a favorite against the Heat? No, but KG and DH will present a problem for them and I don't know what else the Celtics could do to try and win this year.

I'm torn. Losing Rondo is a big loss for them but they will have increased their chances of doing something this year and if they could keep DH they might now have a real plan for rebuilding.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics are still discussing a trade for Kevin Garnett. This time, however, there’s a new wrinkle:

The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers have been discussing a deal to trade forward Kevin Garnett for guard Eric Bledsoe and center DeAndre Jordan, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

There are differing factions within the Celtics and Clippers on the prudence of the deal, but the two teams have been in regular contact about the possibility, sources said.

Nevertheless, the biggest hurdle could ultimately center on Garnett’s willingness to waive his no-trade clause and accept a deal to the Clippers.

Because of his home in Malibu, and a close relationship with Clippers guard Chauncey Billups, there’s hope that Garnett, a 15-time All-Star, could be coaxed into accepting a trade if an agreement is reached, sources said.
