Did MJ have the greatest supporting cast ever?

I got into a debate with this guy at the barbershop who claimed that MJ had the greatest supporting cast ever and that's why he won those championship. He used the Bulls' '94 playoff run without His Airness as the basis of his argument. He must have forgotten the Lakers and Celtics of the 70s and 80s and the Bad Boy Pistons.

He did have a great coach. It makes you wonder how LJ would do with Phil as a coach.

Yep
Magic had Kareem and Worthy
Larry had DJ, McHale and Parrish
Kobe had Shaq, Pau and Lamar
LeBron had Wade and Bosh
Common theme here?

No I'd say Duncan if he counts as "the star"
Or Magic Johnson
Either way this is about to be a MJ vs Lebron thread

Not even close.
MJ, Magic and BIRD are the THREE players that make me say that they were SOOOOOO Good at making other players around them MUCH better that its just funny. ANYONE who thinks a TODAY NBA player makes their team better compared to those three are just plain STUPID.
/RANT.

Bill Wennington, Luk Longley, Hanson, Cartwright, Dennis Hopson, Steve Kerr, John Paxson? C'mon man. Pippen was a great defender, Rodman was a great rebounder. But no. MJ did not have the "greatest supporting cast ever."

Seriously Peej I usually just ignore you and your ridiculous come at me rants about how it's impossible for any body playing now to be anywhere close to as good as guys playing 20 years ago.
But today I'm pissed off, kill yourself you're fricking pathetic and your rants are constantly retarded and you wouldn't know a fact if it hit YOU in the FACE
FACT
ETA: MJ definitely did not have the greatest supporting cast ever

Not even close. MJ never played with a HOF big man unless you consider Dennis Rodman to be a "big man". Larry Bird easily had the strongest supporting cast among the all-time great players. He had three HOF teammates in their prime (Kevin McHale, Robert Parish, Dennis Johnson) for a bulk of his career plus he also had other HOF teammates like Bill Walton, Tiny Archibald and Pete Maravich at various points in his career. Bird easily had the strongest supporting cast ever.

Without even trying, AC Green, Worthy, Kareem and Byron Scott, off the top of my head, is arguably a better supporting cast

My sarcasm meter is broken. Somebody help me out.

The Eastern Conference was a joke when the 76ers made the finals that year not to mention the 76ers were winning in large part due to their defense playing at an elite level. The Eastern Conference was also terrible when Lebron took the Cavs to the NBA finals in 2007 but that's another matter entirely.

if LJ had Steve Kerr and Luke Longley he'd have 4 rings right now.

He had a great #2 in Pippen (good enough to be #1 anywhere else maybe) and a bunch of guys who were great role players and replaceable parts.
Rodman was a great rebounder and defender. Kukoc was a very good player who was too lazy to become as great as he should have been.

My favorite player on the Bulls besides MJ and Pippen. Dude was deadly from beyond the 3pt line.

Therefore, Iverson is the GOAT.

The title teams the 2nd go round were pretty loaded. The early ones not so much.
Still never had the best supporting cast ever.
