Completed build

I want to start off by saying thank you to Bluebarracuda, Stout, and Jcole and everyone else who helped with the questions I had. No lights as of yet, but will likely have a few later. The computer breezes with everything I throw at it. So far ultra settings with no lower than 60 fps on witcher2, LOL, Wow, CS:GO, Sniper, and MW3.
The build ended up being
LIAN LI CASE $99.99
Seasonic 850W modular PSU $109.99
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200rpm HD $79.99
Intel i5-3570k Ivy Bridge 3.8GHz Turbo $229.99
XFX Double D Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition 3GB $399.99
Samsung 840 Series 250gb SSD $149.99
ASRock Z77 Extreme6 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 ATX Intel Motherboard $139.99
Patriot Viper Xtreme Series Division 2 Edition 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 : 44.99
Budget was $1500 so it came under by over $200 thanks to a copy of windows 7 I had and great deals I found. The SSD is ridiculous... If you are on the fence about getting one, just do it. Windows is up in less than 8 seconds... All games on it load immediately. This is my lil bro's introduction to the master race and he is loving it.

Great choices.
Did you purchase the zalman? I will send you one for free. Zalman 9000 something with blue LED.

Funny you say that... I did purchase the zalman cpu cooler but it was HUUUUGE. I didn't install it and had to RMA it. Forgot to edit that out.

Yea 135mm fan. It is a great cooler though.
Why you couldn't use it? Is that a narrow case?

I wasn't comfortable with how it touched the door. I guess the case was a little narrower than I expected. The good thing is that the stock heatsink isn't terrible and I can always replace later if needed.

Stock 1155 heatsinks are not only bad but loud.
Replace it soon.

Maybe I got a good one, cause even when I adjust fan speeds, it's very quiet and temps are great. I've been monitoring the temps pretty closely under full load and haven't had any problems. I will change it eventually though just for peace of mind.

I agree with coyote. Get a decent cooler like a 212 evo, xigmatech dark knight, or appropriately sized zalman. That way u can overclock that 3570k for a free performance boost.

I hope you are trolling.
If not you do not know what good performance, low temps and nearly unaudible noise lvls are.

Puff you should see this killer HTPC.
I will post benches once I hook it up. Waiting on a new Tv to come in.

Nice work Lucky. Water cool that CPU if you want to see cool temps.

Ummm... not trolling. I never said it was amazing, I just said it's doing it's job. Temps are ok and sound really is not bad. People on here have been helping me a lot and I appreciate it so I wouldnt waste their time trying to troll them

Picked up that one and the smaller one at microcenter last weekend. I <3 them.

In the next few months I will slowly be acquiring hardware to update my system. How big of an SSD does one need? I do a lot of gaming, but I also do a lot of work that includes pretty intensive AutoCAD, ArcGIS, 3d rendering, and Adobe Creative Suite prgrams. Would I have all of these programs on the SSD, or do they go on the HD? Kind of the difference between me going with a 120gb or SSD or one around 250gb.

I went with the 250gb and after windows, WoW, LoL, and maybe 6-7 steam games installed I have about 140 gb left. Oh btw, the samsung 840 series put up a 7.9 on the windows perfomance test so I am more than pleased with it.

I really want a 500GB SSD next. I have a few games, all of my programs, and my OS on my 120GB SSD with 47GB left but my games on my other HD take up 600GBs. I would like an SSD just for games.

I built my computer in 2010, around this time, in a few years when I need a new one, I'm going SSD. Good news is the prices will come down while the storage capacity goes up.

I'm with you on 500gb SSD.
I just purchased a S5 from case labs along with D5pump, 2 rads and other shtt for the new build when Titan drops.
Next will be unloading my 500gb raptor that is less than a year old. If your interested in that I could probably do 100 for it.

Yep. Think 3rd gen raptor. Really quick just looking for silent computing.
I have the games I play often on a 256gb SSD but you know we all have that huge steam library that I kept on the raptor.
I can't link the exact drive on my phone but just search, it is the latest 500gb raptor that came out in 2012.
