Despite the knee jerk reactions over day one DLC and the fact that Coop is going to ruin this game, I will be picking it up. Traded in AssCreed 3 and Far Cry 3.
Any other takers?
Surely the user reviews rating it as a 1 are based on many hours of careful consideration.

Trailer looked cool

I'm trying to be optimistic.
The frozen world and the necromorphs have me thinking this could play out like an over the top version of "The Thing".

just noticed something saying that the game has universal ammo for all weapons now.
don't know if I like this or not.

Among other things this is a big reason I will buy this when it's $5 on Steam
quote:
Dead Space 3 was going to be a direct port from the console version to the PC so that meant no graphics settings, no high res texture and so on. Now Producer Steve Papoutsis has tried to defuse the situation and defend why they decided to do a direct port.

That is a legit gripe, what the frick.

Seems like a reasonable complaint and justification for not purchasing.
I don't understand why publishers think this kind of shite is acceptable.

I will forever be pissed if they frick up this series.

I've had my complaints about various EA owned properties in the past, but I keep buying the shite so I guess I'm getting what I deserve.
I won't bitch until I get a feel for the tone of the game, the microtransactions don't bother me because I won't be blowing money on them.
However.... if this gets the Resident Evil 5/6 treatment, I will be genuinely pissed.

You're in trouble if they have a season pass though, you won't be able to resist

I resisted Assassin's Creed 3's season pass.
It may have been an anomaly, but I am capable of such a thing. And it would appear that EA/Visceral is more interested in a quick gouge rather than the long con.

Chapter 17 of 19 and my opinion is that #1 DS, #2 DS2, and #3 Ds3.
Edit*
Just beat the game and I'm pretty disappointed in the way dead space 3 turned out. They went away from the survival horror into a gears of war type game

Well that sounds like absolute crap.
I finally got around to playing DS2 like a week ago in anticipation of this, but the ending pissed me off so much I began to question whether I'd give 3 a chance. Maybe in a year when it's cheap. Maybe. If I've got nothing else.

Played for a little while and I'm not horribly disappointed yet.
I did notice a co-op only area in my single player playthrough, which irks me a little bit. I don't want to be forced into co-op if I don't want to play it. I was going to do a solo run first.

minor gameplay mechanic spoilers.
the rappelling sequences started off okay, but the one that I'm working on currently is infuriating.
the solution to it seems obvious, but isaac doesn't seem to want to obey my commands. instead I'll just get crushed 100 fricking times before I figure out the way the game wants me to do it.

those sequences look fun
Posted on 2/8/13 at 7:04 pm to Carson123987
got through that part.
now i'm just being amused by the myriad ways isaac gets separated from the group.
worst.
luck.
ever.
If I had a legit complaint at this point, aside from that nonsense with the rappelling, it would be that necromorphs seem to be highly resistant to getting their limbs lopped off this time around. I was giving them hell with a line gun and a ripper blade and I wasn't getting much for my efforts except for a face full of angry necromorph.
any my game inexplicably went from normal to hard...
I guess this is the game's subtle way of telling me to man the frick up.
ETA: I just found out that I can fire my assault rifle while the ripper blade spins. I feel like I've turned a corner.

Gonna wait till it goes down in price. People.we're notching cuts its more action based and not.as scary. It should still be worth a play.
