Chances of NIT?

What record will we need to have a realistic shot? I know the NCAA tourney is pretty much out of the question unless we win the SEC tourney. Regardless, I can't wait to see these guys fight hard the rest of the year!

The window for the NIT is very small for an SEC team. They basically have to be a bubble NCAA tournament team that just missed. At this point, LSU is much more likely (but still extremely unlikely) to win the SEC tournament and go the NCAA tournament.

If this team can about 20 wins and a win in the SEC tournament, they should be a lock for at least a berth in the NIT with that.

If last years team can make the NIT than this team should be more than capable

We weren't that last year.

Who cares? You, I know but not me. NIT sucks. I hope we never go to the NIT ever again. Yes even in years when we don't make the NCAA I would rather not go. Why compete in a tournament to see who is the 70th best team in the country!!!

If we had high expectations going into the year then yes I would be disappointed. But with a young squad, post season play can only help out our guys moving forward.

That's true, but it's not the norm.

Seems legit.

Actually, many of the NIT champs positioned themselved for a pretty decent run in the NCAA the following year. I wouldn't bash the NIT too much. LSU played in it when Pete Maravich was a sr.

Considering they are in last place in a weak arse conference, the chance of them making the NIT are pretty close to zero.

omegaman66 - It helps the team because they get to play more games together and they get more accustomed to each others abilities. Any invite is welcomed by the coaching staff I am sure.
