Nice.
Has anyone not kept a gun in a crown royal bag at some point?

I haven't. I was raised to keep Dungeons and Dragon dice in Crown Royal bags, and pistols/revolvers in bank bags. My heirloom Colt Police Positive is in a bank bag right now.

Also, I just put some rubber hogue combat grips on the 686
I liked the look of the wood but the grips were too small

686 is stainless (or nickel) L-frame.
N-frames in .357 are Model 27, 28, 627 or 628.

Most newer revolvers have a small locking mechanism by the hammer to disable it with a small tool.
Some other revolvers have it directly on the hammer.
It makes the action not as smooth and traditional so the pre-lock versions are more sought after.

I also have one of the prelock 686s with a 2.5" barrel. it's a waaaay awesome revolver. I just wish mine had a longer barrel.

Jealous.
I think the 4" barrel versions are my favorite size of revolvers. They look great, shoot great, and aren't gargantuan.

They have also caused some of the airweights to not work when they were supposed to.
