who was LSU's best true freshman,
Hodson was a red shirt freshman, the OP state true freshman. If the question was just freshman. Then it would be Hodson, Hilliard, Faulk.

He had it all. Power/Speed/BreakawayCecil was more talented than either Faulk or Dalton. Yes, I remember watching all of them. They were all great, but Cecil was a freak for a tailback.

It pains me to see such ignorance among our fan base. It's EASILY Dalton Hilliard who rushed for 901 yards and 11 TDs and added five more scores receiving in 1982. His 16 total TDs and 92 points broke the NCAA freshman records that had been set two years earlier by Herschel Walker. He dominated the conference as a true freshman. Now Faulk may have had a better career and The Diesel may have had the best three game stretch in school history, but the best true freshman season belongs to Dalton. He was physically superior as a freshman to SEC competition. Period. What he did to 4th ranked Florida in Gainesville was astounding. I wish there was more Youtube greatness available, because this really wouldn't be debatable if people saw the tape.

Collins didn't play as a true freshman.
Hilliard is the answer.
Hilliard is the answer.

Not the best, but for consideration:
Erasmus Jerel Myers
64 Receptions
854 Yards
2 TDs

Hilliard was amazing. Charles Alexander definitely had a better career. Kevin Faulk had a similar, if not better career.
But as a TRUE freshman, Dalton Hilliard is hands down the best in my book.
