Remember when Skip Bertman got thrown out of the Friday Vandy game in 2001?

What an epic moment. I'll never forget Skip turning his cap around backwards to really get in the ump's face.

smoke Was thrown out way more than PM. Hell, the only time I remember him even close to being thrown out was the hidden ball trick in 08. I thought Goodwin was going to murder that poor guy

I actually remember this game. I am not one to bitch about refs/umpires too much...but the home plate umpire that night was blatantly being an a-hole. Lane Mestepey was pitching that night...a dude with incredible control. Early in that game, the umpire was squeezing Mestepey a little and Skip started bitching. By the 4th inning or so, the umpire had turned into such a bitch that he was literally calling pitches that were right down the middle "balls". Skip then went Earl Weaver on the ump and got tossed. Skip only got ejected twice in his career...that time and in the 1992 SEC tournament in the Superdome.

I was there sitting near coon's corner with my dad. Mestepay was pitching if I remember right. That shite was hilarious.

I can't remember PM ever getting tossed. Everyone on the staff should've been tossed after the 08 hidden ball trick, but I think the refs knew they blew the call and let them rant.

Didnt he get tossed against long beach st. during a regional.
If I remember a ball got stuck in Tim Laniers chest protector.

Mainieri didn't even get tossed after the UC-Irvine hidden ball trick. Javi got tossed immediately for running up and throwing his cap on the ground at the umpire's feet. He was 1st base coach back then.

Anyone know if the story is true where skip slid a cell phone out to the batters box when the home plate ump wasn't giving us any calls? I've heard him tell the story before but sometimes he stretches the truth.

Another Skip story as told by Doug Thompson. He was getting racked early in the game & the indians were circiling the bases almost non stop. Skip comes out & before he can say a word, Thompson says: "Skip, I feel great, I am not tired at all. Let me finish the inning." Skip looks at him, then turns to look out at the outfield, and says "Great, but your outfielders are exhausted!"

Yea Javi went off that game. Only thing i could find on CPM was that he was ejected in 07 against kentucky.

That was probably the game Ochinko hit a walk off homerun over the foul pole and they called it a foul ball after he already rounded the bases. LSU ended up losing.

Skip's most memorable ejection was 1997 elimination game against Long Beach State.

Paul has never been ejected from a game as a coach. Not sure about as a player, but I doubt that.
