I think we can agree it's all winnfields fault
it started when certain 4a and 5a principals sent eca and jc down to 1a and 2a....
and then only let em move up to 3a...
this was simply a retaliation

You. Are. Wrong. Our enrollment was lower this time than during the last reclassification. But what do I know, my source was only direct word of mouth from the U-High AD. I'm sure you know the facts better than she does.
Um, no it wasn't. This has nothing to do with other private schools in your district. The administration knew that there was a great chance that U-High was going 3A. That was two years ago they knew that. The AD might just be wrong. I agree with Cyrus the Virus. U-High can control their selection and enrollment.
i know the enrollment was lower... there were also bigger changes at OTHER schools in classes above and below ya'll which caused the move.
there were also several schools that consolidated... which caused fewer schools in some classes..
come on now.. blaming dunham and episcopal is a little far fetched.
a very good friend of mine was on the committe that did the numbers.. there was nobody from dunham and episcopal there.
it's all about = numbers of schools in the classes.
again.. I know ya'lls numbers were lower - yall are not the first school to move up in that scenario.

This. Especially when you consider that U High has only won that district in Football the past 2 years. Before that it was Capitol or Donaldsonville I believe. Its not like U High has been running the football district for years or anything. And in other sports its always a fight. I think Dunham won basketball last year and Episcopal the year before that. I know U high won the baseball district last year but i think it was Episcopal the year before. Dunham and Episcopal like the U high rivalry in all sports. They had nothing to do with the move up. To believe so is asinine.
ETA: Not only that but do you think D and E have any power of what the LHSAA does? I can tell you they don't.

Mascona's solution was to let the power select schools, Evangel, Curtis, etc. move up to 4-5 A. Is that an option or has that move been voted down by the public schools in those classifications? I recall that Evangel was up there but got voted out a few yrs ago.

What would happen if they refused to play up?

4a and 5a don't want that..... Not just publics

even if 4A AND 5A wanted it couldn't happen... Curtis and Evangel would file suit that they got moved up and nobody else did

Are you this dumb or just being obtuse? The fact that University's enrollment is lower than it was two years ago means nothing. The only relevant factor is where the enrollment stands in relation to the other LHSAA schools. Istrouma, Landry, St. James and East Feliciana had declining enrollments, so that moved University up in the enrollment rankings. It had nothing to do with lobbying by other schools.

Owl you do realize Curtis and ECA WANT to be in those classes?

Unless there's another Peter Warrick I don't know about, he's from Florida.

t, all of the current parkview baptist team pretty much gives you the reason why this has been long needed.
Huh? 68% of the kids playing sports at PBS are from their home attendance zone (yes privates do have home attendance zones). 88% are from ebb parish.....so what's your point...
And of all the private schools, including lab...PBS does not have kids from as far away as the others....

Throwing out the race card.

I can't speak for all private schools, but I was surprised that most of Parkview's students have been there since elementary school. So many of their grads are "13 year seniors" meaning they've been there since kindergarten. I had preconceived ideas about who PBS was, but I was wrong once I saw how things actually worked there.

And west monroe doesn't bring in stud athletes from other areas? It happens in public schools and private schools.

All I said he was wrong about was our enrollment going up. And he WAS wrong about that. The Episcopal whining part was speculation on my part, given that they wouldn't agree to play us in football next year. Every other sport, yes, football, no. And as someone correctly pointed out, U-High only dominated the district the past 2 years, not 2 decades like JC has.
Bobby and Deke covered this topic this morning on WWL. They interviewed a long-time public school coach that (shocker) liked this change, and even said it would allow more public schools to make the playoffs (everyone gets a trophy). And the example they used of the biggest inequity was U-High with 400 students playing against the schools in New Orleans with 2000 students. And how the seedlings would be done. The 3A schools are all going to be screwed just to ensure Curtis and ECA are screwed.
Yeah, I'm bitter that my son's senior year got fricked up by these petty, typical Louisiana back room politics. I hope that CHS leads a move for all the privates to bolt as they've already gone on record as saying they might We won't be hurt financially anymore than having to spend the year splitting revenue with the Bakers of the world then having to travel to play St. Aug in the first round of the playoffs.

I spoke to several coaches, admins, ADs yesterday and last night and here are a couple of things:
The consensus is the Destrehan principal hit the nail on the head when he said this whole movement is all about forcing the LHSAA to act. The Executive Committee has sat on their hands for years and done nothing and now the support for forcing the issue reached a majority
The LHSAA hierarchy know this proposal wont stand up in court. That is the reason for the language some principals used (Karr, Jesuit, Carver) in their official statements to the assembly. If the Executive Committee wont do anything then they will let the courts decide and using words like "separate but equal" and "going back to the 50s" etc put the lawsuit grounds into the Association's meetings minutes. The privates will wait to see how the court cases play out before they do anything drastic, but they will use that time to get their house in order if they do leave the LHSAA. This will also give School Boards that have select admission public schools time to decide if they will allow the charters, magnets, etc under their jurisdiction to leave the LHSAA if the school principals request it.
Apparently someone from ECA spoke and poured gas on the fire when he said "(paraphrasing) we dont care what you do, we will play anyone, anywhere" which didnt go over very well with the assembly.
Class B and C was again manipulated by the big publics and they are pissed across the board. The ruse of "vote our way or we will get rid of Class C" has reminded some small school principals about their "second class citizenship."
The reason for the public roll call is there were numerous principals that were talking out of both sides of their mouths for years. So now their true feelings are on the record. I heard several public school coaches say "I personally am against the split but my principal voted yes because....."
The consensus amongst people I spoke to is Kenny Henderson is finished as Commissioner and it is just a matter of time. In their opinion the LHSAA has failed to address the biggest issues facing the Association under Henderson's tenure and tried to sweep things under the rug. Henderson has made a bad situation even worse with his divisive attitude about what is fair and his desire to force events to North LA has fractured relationships with certain sponsors. Some of the curious and inconsistent rulings the Commissioner's office has made have also called his credibility into question. Someone needed to repair the Association after the Tommy Henry era and some feel Henderson has done as much as he can do.

If you are Ouachita, you aren't worried about Ouachita Christian or St. Frederick, you are worried about Neville getting its charter. If it does and athletes can go there and play the best competition, then , then Ouachita is fricked.
JeffersonParish schools have long been fricked with Curtis and the Catholic league attracting players.
