We have heard how Tulane went w a 51 yr old WR coach instead of a young up and comer bc of Johnsons recruiting connections. After a pretty solid start (he had tulane in the top 55 at one point), Tulane currently sits at #80 in the latest rankings. My question is, if a local man w connections cant recruit at tulane, then what will it take to get that program back on track? Getting invited to join the big 12? Ed orgeron and a fully stocked atm? Or will tulane need to have a petrino type who can win w two stars?

He's been recruiting really well so far. I wouldn't give much creedence to the #80 ranking, but even if you do, recruiting at #80, while finishing well below that on the field this season is still an improvement.

Some people may have had unrealistic expectations, but that's not CJs fault.

I was looking at Rivals Rankings over the weekend and saw that Tulane was in the mid 60s one spot ahead of Arkansas, also saw that ULL was dead last in nation. I figured that Curtis was done a good job.

#80 in recruiting is awful

No excuse for that in Louisiana

Smaller schools need to focus on finding diamonds in the rough or late qualifiers in order to get talented players. The best players Hud has brought into Lafayette were unranked. Justin Hamilton wasn't ranked and he's a monster defensive tackle.

I've seen it as high as about 65 according to some sites FWIW.

I think he's done a good job recruiting. And Trooper Taylor and others have already proven it is possible to recruit well at Tulane before CJ.

On the Clark/Smith OP Walker decommitts, really strange situation. Hope they can atleast keep Smith. He says Arizona St. is now his leader, but according to Guerry Smith of thewavereport Smith's father says he is still committed to Tulane
Dont be surprised if CJ lands Duke Riley.

For whatever reason, I had a dream last night or the night before that he got fired after 2 seasons.
