Purchasing gaming tv

About to buy a new tv for the Xbox 360. Will not be a "need" purchase but I feel like I deserve a new toy. I need that last little push to know I'm making a smart decision. What do you guys think? 60 in samsung led 1097.99

I think 60" would be too big especially since I sit close to my TV and it's 46". But to each his own.

I don't see how people game on such a large TV. I play on 32" even though I have a bigger TV and my PC monitors are 24". Anything bigger than that seems like too much IMO.

That's a lot of real estate to keep up with especially on FPS, but everyone is different.

Very nice
I play on a 42" Vizio and love it

If I don't enjoy gaming on it, I can always put the Xbox back on the 46in led I'm using now. Would also like the size for movies and football.

I tried playing on a Samsung 55" Smart TV. Don't get me wrong, the picture is outrageous, but I was nearly concussed trying to keep up with the size playing MW3 and BLOPS 2. For Madden, GTA, FIFA it's a joy. FPS games are the worst on large TV's though

i play on a 32" westinghouse, and for me, it's big enough of a tv. Anything larger would be overkill in this room.
i was shocked how good of a picture the westinghouse has. People poo poo'd the purchase when i made it. TV has been a great buy

I'm not really a console fps guy. I prefer pc for any shooter. Mostly I play games like skyrim, kingdoms of amalur, and dragon age on Xbox

Are LED's bad for gaming? I love how movies and games look on it, but it seems like they may lag more on an LED? Friend can play CoD on his smooth as hell, but when he plays BF3 you can notice it lags a bit.
I'm on a 42" LCD

i dont know your situation, but if you are buying a television just for gaming there a few things you need to take in to consideration.
First if you are a fps online gamer that tv is absolutely terrible for what you.
If your into games like assassins creed or madden then that tv would be great for you.
Online shooters such as cod are not good to play on that type of tv because of response rate.
smaller less expensive lcd tvs or lcd monitors are much better for online shooters.
i bought a $2000 Panosonic plasma top of the line about six months ago for gamings. i played on it one day and it was almost unplayable. i did a little research and found out about response times, and it turns out the better the tv the longer the response time it has.

Well I guess I could have explained in the OP. I'm not a fan of shooters on console and the tv will be mine main tv in the den. Used for football/baseball/and movie nights with the lady. I was asking more if the price/quality was a smart decision lol. I came here for tech help more than lifestyle.

I use my 23" monitor over my 42" vizio LED. Everything feels a lot more "smooth" on a monitor over a tv

just mounted a 42" plasma in my office a few weeks ago, its for gaming

HDTV's currently marketed as "LED" TVs are simply LCD panels with LED backlighting.
There are currently no true OLED HDTVs on the market. Actually, there are probably a few you could purchase...if you had about $20,000 to burn.

yeah, if you're going hardcore and it's strictly for gaming then get a 24-27 PC monitor. 2 legit 2 quit.

How far from your tv will you be, that makes a big difference.

Between 7-10 feet. Again... I don't play console shooters so lag isn't an issue
