re: Deadspin: Manti Te'o Dead Girlfriend Story a Hoax (now with drug dealers!)

It makes sense. Why else troll somebody for so long? Most hoaxes on the internet are for money. Not saying that Manti still didn't embellish, lie and not be callus in not visiting the sick "girlfriend."

I believe this has already been brought up and it has been confirmed that no currency exchanged hands.

Didn't "as the plains burn" reach like 2k pages??

Did something come out explaining why Manti Te'o directly contradicted the timeline Notre Dame gave the national media back on Wednesday? I can't believe no one is talking about this. Te'o went to ND on December 26, according to this AD, and told them he might have been duped. Notre Dame hires a private investigation firm and confirms on January 5 he was duped. This, according to him, affects his play during the BCSNCG but then he turns around and says he didn't know she was a hoax until the day the Deadspin article came out?
Is anyone going to address these contradictions?
Schapp asked about it. Talked about it on ESPN this morning. Basically said he was confused when the girl called back and said she wasn't dead. Didn't know what to think initially. Was this still my girlfriend that just lied to me, did I just have a shitty lying "girlfriend", is this real etc? Basically saying he knew the death was a hoax but didn't have it all figured out yet. Obviously bizarre

Confirmed because ESPN and Notre Dame said so? pffft. Still doesn't mean Ronai wasn't angling for it "in memoriam"

Te'o has a team now of attorneys, friends, and family that are in full damage control mode, in an effort to protect and maintain his NFL contract. They will create, say, or do anything to shift blame away from him and onto somebody else. We are talking about the difference to them in millions and millions of dollars.
The challenge for his lead attorney is going to be keeping a reign on the family, and making sure the stuff they say will match up with the information he releases. You've already seen how once Te'o told one lie, it lead to another, then another, then another. When you start lying, it's difficult to remember, and the cover-up gets a lot more complicated. This attorney has got to try to pull it all together. I would think he's got his work cut out for him.

There are some points that are decent and elements you would have trouble hunting for in media reports.
But lots of repetition.
Only worthwhile as a speed reader.

Gustav thread was over 500.
And the Cam Newton bit had lots of butthurt LSU fans all falling on top of each other to spill "insider" info that was "about" to break with consequences as bad as NCAA throwing the death penalty.
So no.

That still doesn't make any sense. According to Notre Dame he went to them on Dec 26 and told them he might have been played. They told him and his family on January 5 that yes, he had indeed been played.
If he is to be believed that he didn't know for sure until Wednesday then I have nothing but contempt for him. I can't feel sorry for a dumb arse. Not just a dumb arse, but a borderline retarded dumb arse. He should save us all the trouble and commit suicide so as to not pollute the gene pool any further than it already has been. Only the most gullible of idiots falls for shite like that for THREE YEARS. How the hell did this guy get into Notre Dame? How the hell did this guy become an Academic All-American?
shite…the fact that he fell for this prank for so long makes me lose faith in humanity. There are so many red flags in this idiot's three-year relationship that I would have called it quits mere days after it had began if I were in his position. It was THAT obvious. Manti Te'o should be banned from procreation, he should be banned from dating women, and should immediately be forced to become a homosexual (if he isn't one already). His story isn't heartbreaking, it's absolutely pathetic. You "date" for three years and not one time do you try to meet her, even when she's supposedly on her death bed. Your excuse? "I was in school." BULL…shite! If the supposed love of your life is seemingly at death's door you do your damnedest to make it out to see her. You were in LA during that time and you're going to tell me that you don't call her "brother" and ask what hospital she's at because you want to come see her? You're a dumb arse. You're lower than a dumb arse. You're the village idiot. I can't have sympathy for you. Don't get a girl pregnant, especially if her hair color is blonde. The spawn that would result could end up being the death of us all.

Yeah, good luck with that.
I truly believe the guy's a sociopath who helped concoct this whole thing. However, assuming that's not the deal, if the dude is really THAT gullible, he's no less of a head case. Either way, there's no way this whole thing doesn't end up costing him a shite-ton of money.

Screw you. I'm just voicing what's on my mind. The media is trying to be PC about it and are calling Te'o naive. He isn't naive. He's stupid. It's as plain as that.
I'd rather he just say he made the whole thing up. I'd still hate him, but at least I could respect him for fooling so many people in positions of power for so long. That takes brains. The story we are getting from Te'o and the media now proves to me he doesn't have a brain.

If he really did make it all up and played the world for a fool, is he really that stupid?
