so you have had this experience before?

no. simple to say not play it up. If he found out on Dec 6th....it was already out of his hands I would say at that point....

If his side is true and he finds out on Dec 6th, what would YOU do???

anyone that says they would come right out with the story of them being made a fool of is a liar just like Te'o

Maybe not get involved in a huge lie in cover up to begin with. Do you think people are incapable of not getting involved for 2 years with a fake character that doesn't exist? And not making up stories and telling them to the press?

but what exactlly would any of us have done? I've never gotten duped to this extent (and yes I know no one on this board has ever been duped) not sure anyone in the world has

See, you're one that refuses to accept that he might have created this story to try and protect his big NFL contract.

so it's nice to think that once he knows he's been made a fool of to "just come clean" but humans do not work that way

You're just undervaluing that part of it. The dude had a half arse online relationship by his own admission, he wouldn't visit her in the hospital and it didnt even cross his mind. He hears she dies and he uses it to become the best human interest story, and parlay that into winning almost every major reward he could.

Not sure why you don't think a shite load of people could have a problem with this.

And this is just saying if te'o hypothetically didn't have anything to do with the hoax. The guy clearly spoke of his girlfriend after he allegedly found out she died. He is a liar. Bottom line.

sure some will feel that way. a minority IMO

look at this thread. Some will give him benefit of the doubt in some respects and others (majority) will roast him for any part of the story

I don't know why you are trying to make this a Catholic vs. Protestant thing. I'm a practicing Catholic and I have quite a few problems with Te'o's story.

Didn't mean it as all Catholics. I'm talking about the hardcore ND Catholics. Like the hardcore JoePa/Penn St. fanatics that ignore the evidence on that episode, and still hold up JoePa as a saint in those parts.

I am pissed that Te'o is going to just get off the hook for all of this! I hope that somebody is still digging because this is the most obvious cover-up I've ever seen.

One of the most pressing questions over the last few days was why Te'o didn't visit the supposedly ailing Kekua in the hospital. Schaap posed that to Te'o, who said, "It never really crossed my mind. I don't know. I was in school."

no I don't think he had anything to do with the creation of the story. Coming to that belief as the story moves forward

Yep. Its what I think as well.

However, I do believe he milked "her death"

which is wrong in itself.

My point is that a blunder this stupid, could cause journalists their jobs (despite how dumb they were not COMPLETELY fact checking before writing their stories).

And even if some journalists lose their jobs over this, Te'o will still be proped up as someone to support and comfort after this "terrible ordeal" by the Notre Dame love fest in the mass media like ESPN, CBS, etc...

I'm not sure he'll get off the hook completely. The media will let him off the hook, because they look just as bad as he does, and want this to go away too. They sucked horribly at confirming the facts. They are doing exactly what most people thought. Let him get his PR people together, do damage control, make an explanation trying to explain it away, then hope it goes away.

But most reasonable people know basically what happened, and what Te'o is, and it will follow him around through his NFL career. He'll always be known as a liar that tried to prop up his NFL earnings and reputation by using stories of a relationship with a dying girl that didn't exist.

Anyone holding him up as a victim in any way whatsoever has no conscience. And if you will recall, ND was the first institution to publicly hold him, and themselves up, as victims when this happened. That should tell you something.

Yep, it was for money. Roniah had a "leukemia foundation." We won't get the truth if money changed hands.

Not where it counts, I'd bet.

There are very likely 32 NFL GMs out there who are breathing a sigh of relief that this all broke this far in advance of the draft. They ducked a bullet and can now plan accordingly.

Did something come out explaining why Manti Te'o directly contradicted the timeline Notre Dame gave the national media back on Wednesday? I can't believe no one is talking about this. Te'o went to ND on December 26, according to this AD, and told them he might have been duped. Notre Dame hires a private investigation firm and confirms on January 5 he was duped. This, according to him, affects his play during the BCSNCG but then he turns around and says he didn't know she was a hoax until the day the Deadspin article came out?

Is anyone going to address these contradictions?

Please forgive me if I don't take the word of Te'o's uncle in this.
