Which version did you see live? tehB0lly/JCC/Auf der Maur/Iha was pretty solid.
I saw them at The State Palace during the Siamese Dream tour ('93) and they sounded great... I'm not even a huge fan of theirs, went to see Swervedriver... same line up with D'Arcy(??) on bass

Red Hott Chili Peppers. Might as well have been listening to their songs on the radio. Very little innovation. And frick everything without John

The last time I saw WSP live they sounded just terrible. I doubt I go see them again after that.
I like listening to Middle Class Rut when I ski but I've heard they are really bad live so I have no intention of ever going see them.

You can thank Anthony Kiedis for pretty much all of that.

This is not much of an exaggeration. For a style of music that started as completely live, so many hip hop acts are shockingly terrible live.

Watching Eminem on stage with none of the talent from his albums there.....

FIFY. I just don't understand the love for WSP. They just aren't that good, even live.

Only hip hop bands I have seen live that were good (recently) were delton 3030 and brother ali. Both put on an awesome show, especially deltron 3030.

edit: I understand playing a song show after show and tour after tour can make you hate playing it...
I saw Dylan at the Audubon Zoo. Could have been any of you in a sombrero. Would have made no difference. All songs performed with the same lack of melody. Horrible. Thankfully, I had a blanket, a pretty girl and lots of bourbon.

I won't say every time they were bad. I saw them a few times at the Jazz Fest and thought they were okay.
They sound nothing like that anymore tho and I also don't see why they get so much love.
There used to be a few hardcore Panic fans on here that liked to flip out if you even questioned their greatness.
I personally think they suck now.

its too big and the sound sucks.
The ogden is the largest venue I frequent, and I have to relaly like the band to go see them there.
Much prefer the venues that hold like 200 ppl vs 750+
I'm with you on this. I really like the Gothic.
To answer the OP, Blink 182 really turned me off when I saw them live. To be honest, I was not that big a fan in the first place but after seeing them I now have zero interest.

I don't understand why you would stop listening to a band's studio recordings (that you love) just because they aren't very good live.
That makes no sense to me.

I wish they got better acts. I was so bummed when NPP folded.
Its like 2 miles from my house, so during the summer we can bike ride to shows but that is rare with their acts. My personal favs are larimer lounge and hi-dive.

hi-dive, bluebird and gothic get some pretty good acts. I love me some cervantes.

I loose respect for them. I dunno what else I can say. But if you suck live, chances are I won't like you anymore.
re:cervantes, its awesome to smoke and not be hassled at all. The only problem is the owner is a fricking dick and a half. I have heard from many a local music act that he just sucks.

Are we talking about 1995 Soundgarden or this nursing home version they're tossing out now? Cornell's voice is worse for the wear.

there are plenty of exceptions to the rule, the roots being the beacon of light in live hip hop.
flaming lips were boring as hell when i saw them live, festival set though, so i give them a slight pass.

they were horrible. May have been the set up but, metallica and rage sounded great

Sure, as is Talib Kweli and Nas. But I'm shocked by how many terrible hip hop shows I've been to. I have no idea why rap doesn't translate to a live performance, as you'd think it would.
