Anybody can help me with what is the best ski town closest to Denver so I would not have to drive far or connect flight out of NOLA? One that would be the best for kids as well.

I am looking at either Copper, Keystone, Winter Park, or Breckinridge. It is my understanding they all are only a few hours drive from Denver.

Many thanks

Breckinridge is very nice. it is not a bad drive south to Vail ski area from there.

I recommend Keystone, then Brek.

I'd go straight to Vail. Right on the interstate, so easy access and great skiing. Good ski schools for kids and lots of other stuff for them to do in town. About two and a half hours from Denver.

Are you renting a car or taking a shuttle?

I've been to Copper, Keystone, Loveland, Vail and Breckenridge...

I like Breck best. It's a small town rather than a resort. Independent business owners competing for your dollars.

Put your kids in a ski school and have a blast!

For someone new to this with kids I'd pick Breckenridge, then Keystone. Breckenridge slopes are the easiest and it has the best town atmosphere of the 4. Both are a part of the Summit so you can take shuttles between them if you want variety. Copper is too but it is a more advanced mountain. Winter Park is off by itself and is fine but not as beginner friendly.

If it's your first time skiing, I'd do Breck because it's easier to get around the mountains and the runs are a little easier and there are several sections designated to greens/blues. If you know what you're doing, drive the extra 20 minutes to Vail. It's incredibly diverse and much larger.

If going with kids, Keystone. If you are wanting nightlife Breck or Vail. I ride Keystone the most because it is close to Denver, doesn't get too crowded like Breck, and is a big mountain.

Winter Park is not a long drive from Denver and great for kids.
