re: Russell Wilson is the best rookie QB in his draft class...

Geno is accurate, has the size, and the ability. He needs a little fine tuning but he can make the throws to succeed in the NFL. He couldn't play defense for West Virginia and it was horrible... They finished 108th in total defense

Just looking at the top prospects on the draft board, this is a perfect year to build up a stellar defense. The smart teams will wait till free agency or try to trade for offensive talent they made need, and draft some future pro bowlers in the front 7.

False. RG3 >> Russell Wilson.

When he is healthy
I don't know if he can stay healthy

I still wouldn't draft him in the 1st round or try to build my team around him. I can tell you that Mike Glennon and Bray are gonna be taken way earlier than they should because they have the "measurables" that don't mean squat but everybody drools all over.

Geno to me relies too much on the deep ball to open downfield receivers. When he doesn't have it available, he struggles a bit.
He could be very good but he's still a risky first round pick.

But he will not be any good in the NFL.
You may think differently and that's cool. My opinion is he is not an answer for any team in the NFL, but it's not to say he won't be starting for some team one day.
He just will not be very good.
Look at Minn. They have the worst backup QB in the league by a mile, so Geno could be a fit there.

All have risk, Geno is "safest" pick I guess because he does have all the tools and he can make the throws. He isn't a sexy pick but still. Had they had a defense at WVU and won 10 games you probably would see more people ok with him being a top 5 pick

You have any substantial analysis to back this opinion?
I think Geno's game will translate well into the NFL

He looks good at times and absolutely terrible at times. Most of his success came from big plays down field against big 12 defenses. He struggles majorly when plays start breaking down, he gets all panicky and doesn't know what to do (see most of Syracuse game)

In the NFL, he will have to make plays under pressure. In college, he hasn't been really good at handling pressure.

My substantial football visual experience.

It's an opinion asshat. Let's revisit this in a few years.
I think Geno is at best a 4th rounder and a career backup. His game is not impressive although his numbers are, but Texas Tech and Houston QB's had impressive numbers yet didn't do shite in the NFL.

He's not better than RG3. GTFO. Wilson has the best team out of the 3.
Posted on 1/13/13 at 2:29 pm to CM84
That's why I wouldn't take him, if I'm a GM of a team who needs a QB in this year's draft I'm still going defense all the way, gotta take what's given to ya.

Luck played against PAC 10 defenses (who we mock being SEC fans)
RGIII played against the same defenses that Geno has....
What conference they played in has 0 importance. If they can make an NFL throw then they could be successful. Every QB in league needs playmakers around them, if you surround them with poor talent they will suffer. KC has Charles, Baldwin, Moeki, maybe Bowe so he could step in and produce

Are we talking about the RG3 with or without knee cartilage?
Who broke Manning's rookie TD record?

Geno seems to lake it upstairs sometimes he gets rattled easy

Oh no it doesn't make that much difference what league they came from, I was just pointing out that Geno usually had somebody running down the field wide open like usual in the BIG 12 and when he didn't, things went south fast.

Thats scary. Pressure gets to him. There's no way I could take him w/ an early pick. The Risk isn't enough for the Reward.
