Has anyone ever used the Chase iPhone app to deposit a Check?

I was wondering if anyone here has used the Chase Bank app for iPhone to deposit a check into your account? Apparently you can take a photo of the front and back of the check and deposit the amount into your account. My main question is this, How long does it typically take to post to your account?
Does this method of depositing a check follow the typically time frame to post as it would if one deposited it at a brick and mortar Chase where if you deposit the check prior to noon, the funds will post that day? I need to deposit a check into my account because I’m dangerously close to overdrawing my account and I didn’t want to have to get out in this weather, and I need to eat lunch.

My wife does it all the time. I think it's just like depositing it at the ATM, where some goes in right away and the rest at midnight.

It is a fantastic app. I've deposited about 25 checks this way over the last year or so that the service has been out and only had trouble with 1-2 checks. The ones I had trouble with it let me know in the early stages it was having trouble reading the checks, so it wasn't like it was 2 days later when I was counting on the money being there.
Take the pictures in good lighting on a flat surface. Make sure to include the numbers on the bottom of your check in the picture and not cut it off (routing & acccount numbers). You'll never make a trip to deposit a check again.

Forgot to answer the part about the funds being available. It's just as fast as if you had gone to a branch. They send you an email when it has been accepted, usually just a few hours later.

I bank with ING Direct (soon to be CapitalOne 360). They have a mobile app with the same feature. It works great, the hold is the same as depositing directly (mailing the check in my case).
The only drawback is that it won't do money orders. Not sure if this is true for Chase but the technology is the same so it probably is.

Welcome to 2010...
Photo deposits with my bank (SunTrust) post the same day if done before 9pm.

Yeah I've used it a number of times. Its pretty much exactly like depositing a check at the ATM (which I think is almost the same from a timing perspective as doing it inside a branch). It all matters what time you deposit it, and if its another chase account, I think it is all available immediately.

i have used it as well, the only part i'm uncomfortable with is what to with said ck after the deposit. My office (expense) cks said just to shred them - they have since gone to direct deposit on expense checks. great app

void it and file it away, or just shred it?

I use the app at least once a month. As said before the checks generally post as they would if you were to deposit them at a Chase ATM that takes checks.
The app is very good about letting you know of any issues, and you will always get a confirmation email.
However I have had issues with depositing high dollar amount checks. I can't remember the error message, but something about exceeding the deposit limit. I guess it is trying to protect against fraud.

Sure do, usually works great. I deposited a few the other night around 8:00 and were cleared before I went to bed.

Only drawback is the $1000 check limit but it works great. When it was first introduced, I remember I could NOT take a good enough picture for the app to accept, but apparently they worked that out and it's very easy.

I do it. It usually takes less than 12 hours. Its the same as if I deposit it at the ATM outside the branch. I honestly never go in to deposit.

Thanks for the info everyone.
I broke down and just went to chase because I decided to pull some cash from the Check, but mainly because I wanted to get out of the office for a few minutes.

USAA's electronic deposit is instantaneous regardless of what time/day it is.
They win this.
