They can't beat Oregon. Oregon State will never be a national championship caliber football team. Never.
Never say never. However, Okafor might go a round higher than he should based on his game against OS.
The Pac - 12 teams need to get better on the olines. There were a lot influx this year. Oregon will have a nice nucleus with Johnstone, a freshman all-american, Grasu, all - Pac 12 as a sophmore, and Fisher, who played valuable snaps since stepping on campus and beginning with LSU in the Cowboy Classic.
Stanford gets almost all of their defense back and their offense is going to take a quantam leap forward. The oline is young and Hogan is a playmaker.

One team that "should" be able to do it but always underperforms is FSU. They have top recruiting classes every year yet always find a way to screw up.
Because they are soft and jimbo is a predictable clueless bastard.

Alabama had an easy schedule last year that turned out well for them.

Sadly Michigan is probable going to be very very average in 2013

Probably needs to happen next year. I'm not looking forward to a 4-team playoff with 3 SEC teams involved.

it'll be that Big 12 team from Texas that plays in the SEC

Probably not after the hammer they're bout to face from the NCAA.

The big thing that the teams that have the natural advantages to bring in elite enough talent to match the top SEC teams (USC, Miami, Texas) all either suck/have bad coaches/are or about to be sanctioned.
Basically the only realistic options are FSU, OSU from the real top programs and Oregon maybe, but they still need to get much stronger on the lines.

Yeah, I think the list is Oregon, Oklahoma, Ohio St, and Florida St. Maybe Stanford and Oklahoma St as well. Texas needs a new coach, USC needs to wait until probation is over, and Michigan needs time to rebuild themselves.
Look, if Pitt hits a field goal against Notre Dame, Oregon is playing for the title this year (or KSU), and they would've given the Tide a much better game. They would've had a puncher's chance of victory.

I think Stanford and Okie State have basically maxed out at this point.

In order:
1) the SEC cannibalizes itself and doesn't get a team into the BCS title game
2)Ohio State and Oregon are the only realistic candidates to beat a 12-1 or 13-0 SEC champ in the near future.
3) Programs like ND, Michigan, Clemson, Stanford, and FSU are stockpiling talent with fresh new(ish) coaches and all seem to be on the upswing, so maybe one of those in a few years.

Only a healthy Miami, FSU or USC can match the SEC

Ohio State
Urban Meyer will have them better than they were under Tressel because of how well he recruits Fla/GA.
