Oh what a difference a year makes. One year ago today, I was all ate up. Spending sensless money left and right supporting a habit that was bad for my health, my relationships at home, and more importantly, driving myself nuts in general.

No more. I started weening myself off of it last year despite the great season, and this year I nearly made a complete break. Well, I'm there. Last night did it for me. I'm giving up my season tix for the next several years. Going to sell them to someone else so I can stay home.

I love LSU. I love Les Miles. I love Tiger Stadium. I love the Band. I love the Golden Girls. I love the Clock Tower. I love the Hill. But I won't miss it. Been there, done that hundreds of times. Kids only grow up once.

Instead of spending thousands of bucks every year to watch this scripted, predictable show we call college football, I will stay home and watch it on TV for free. When it is obvious that LSU is going to blow another game, I can do what I did last night: Laugh and change the channel.

No longer will I waste thousands of dollars to watch a predictable game plan with predictable results. I'll do that for free.

No longer will I waste thousands of dollars to watch a predictable LSU administration bow down to the SEC.

No longer will I waste thousands of dollars to watch LSU win big games in person, only to find out that it still wasn't "good enough" and that you'll have to beat some teams twice.

No longer will I pay thousands of dollars to watch LSU play a harder schedule, while our rival's alumni (who run the conference) schedule their teams cupcakes all the way to another big season.

No longer will I pay thousands of dollars to watch officials make horrid calls that alter games while LSU's rival's alumni run the officiating office.

No longer will I pay thousands of dollars to have other fans tell me I'm a "butthurt, pussy, whiner" when I can't make a game and try to sell my tickets (that I overpayed for) only to try and recoup some of my money (NOT MAKE MONEY). See my Ticket Exchange thread here from the USC game this year.

Nope! This is a great feeling.

Yeah, I know what many of you here will say. It is predictable. You are "whining". "TL:DR", etc.

Don't care. $3000+ is a lot of money. I didn't realize it until I was adding it up last night during the third quarter of the game.

Thank you LSU football. You have brought me much joy over the years and will continue to do so......just in a different way now....

Time to save that money for something that will benefit myself and my family more: My Kids College Fund. Tuition for two kids at LSU won't be cheap in 2026.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Way to be an LSU Tiger Fan, dude. No faith in your team.

Coach Miles is the best coach LSU has ever had.

You Nega-Tigers are ruining LSU football. I hope that you are happy now. LSU lost. You must be laughing and having a good time because LSU lost.

I'm pretty sure that Coach Miles knows more about coaching that do you.

Who do YOU want to Coach LSU? Saban ain't coming back.

i've been thinking the same thing money-wise. i've had tickets since 99', but it's getting harder to keep paying what they want.

i had to buy an extra ticket for the 5 yo for the games this year. people were flat giving tickets away for hardly any cost. doesn't make much sense to pay so much up front when there will always be tickets a fraction of the cost.

not counting the parking money and other BS. then adding in the weather factor. it makes more sense to stay home and just pick the games you want to go to.

i don't mind losing to the better team, like last night, but this same ole shite of finding a way to lose like an idiot is getting old.

I'm with you, bro. Time to start concentrating on whats important.

I'm taking the family to disney next month.

After that, I need to focus on getting my house back in tip top shape. Might build a pond in the backyard come spring.

I'll see where my mind is when football season rolls around again.

I totally understand!!

I also saved thousands of dollars this year that otherwise would have gone toward LSU football fandom.

P.S. -- This is my first post on the Rant since June, except for an accidental posting in a Stanley Roberts thread I think.

I dont know how old you are but as I have gotten older the "hurt" that occurs after an LSU loss has disappeared. At some point you realize you are getting upset over the actions of teenagers that you have absolutely no control and multimillionaire coaches - again - thay you have no control over. So why invest so much emotion? I just go to the games and if we win - cool. If not, oh well, maybe next time. Hopefully Miles will adapt. Thats all we can do is hope.
Geaux LSU!

I have also made the money saving decision to stop going to LSU games as long as the status quo holds.

Just wish I'd made that decision before yesterday's disgrace.

Kudos. Family time should always trump college football.

This is the periodic cleansing of the fanbase that we need.
It's also part of ageing.
Let some young, die-hard blood in.
I applaud your decision. Be happy. Be elsewhere. Win-win for everybody.
I suspect that some day four five years from now my kids will be going to all the games in my stead.
My back and vocal cords will thank me.
I'll just pass it down, as my Father did, and then step aside.

I don't know why more people don't skip paying TAF dues and just buy them off of stubhub. Even if you pay $400 for the Bama game, you still save tons.
