We were misbehaving during the Roman times and so the engineers sent an engineer in the form of a human (Jesus) to show us a better way to live but the humans ended up crucifying him. On phone dont have time to link. Apparently Ridley Scott said this.

I don't think you heard it right. I think you heard somebody trying to interpret Ridley Scott... and poorly at that.
OK... I was trying to be polite, but I can't. Either you or the person who said that is idiotic.

Don't Know. But I didn't really like the movie and I'm a big fan of science fiction

Ridley Scott: We definitely did, and then we thought it was a little too on the nose. But if you look at it as an "our children are misbehaving down there" scenario, there are moments where it looks like we've gone out of control, running around with armor and skirts, which of course would be the Roman Empire. And they were given a long run. A thousand years before their disintegration actually started to happen. And you can say, "Let's send down one more of our emissaries to see if he can stop it." Guess what? They crucified him.

See... I don't get that at from watching the movie. If you watch the movie itself - It's nowhere near that specific. And they certainly don't make a Christ-like figure appear.
ETA:
But I do stand corrected and retract my idiotic comment if he said that stuff... Just makes no sense why he'd say it (unless there's a special edition of Gladiator coming out soon).

There was plenty of religious theories out there. You didn't need Ridley Scott's permission to guess that. However, at least it makes the movie make fricking sense.
