My State Senator
Just curious, why would you write your state Senator? Best I can tell the state legislature has zero say so over this matter.

I'll write David and Mary, but I know it'll just go in the trash
I'm no fan of the Landrieu family, but Mary has done a lot of good things for Louisiana with this administration. And if Obama is for it, Vitter will vehemently oppose it-it's pretty much like an involuntary action for him.

Here's why you need to write your state legislators also:
[link=(www.gopusa.com/news/2012/12/29/bullet-tax-proposal-is-new-twist-in-gun-control-debate/)]The Hartford Courant reported last week that two Democratic legislators were proposing a new 50 percent tax on bullets as part of a broader gun-control bill. The Connecticut legislation is one sign that the gun-control debate that the shootings will prompt next year in statehouses around the country could morph into an ammunition-control debate, too.[/link]

Done, I live in liberal hippy town so I'm sure it will end up in the junk pile but I did my part.

Apparently my House Rep is a Dem that has mixed reviews about firearms. In my letter I let her know that if she voted for any type of legislation to restrict firearms or magazines or ammo I would be leading the charge to have a recall vote and get some one in the seat that would listen to the people.

Just got this reply from Mary Landrieu
December 31, 2012
Dear Mr. Daniel:
I am, like you, a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, which guarantees the right to bear arms. Thank you for contacting me regarding proposed legislation to expand legal authority to carry a concealed firearm. I welcome feedback from my constituents and appreciate hearing from you on this important matter.
Senators Mark Begich (D-AK) and Joe Manchin III (D-WV) have introduced a bill, S. 2188, the National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act of 2012. Senator John Thune (R-SD) has introduced a similar bill, S. 2213, the "Respecting States' Rights and Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act." These bills would authorize an individual who has met the requirements by one state's laws to carry a handgun, to also carry a handgun in any other state that issues such permits or does not prohibit carrying a concealed weapon. Both bills have been referred to the Senate Committee on the Judiciary.
I believe the Constitution guarantees the right of all Americans to own and use guns for sport and personal protection. The Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled in favor of a citizen's right to purchase, possess and use firearms. I have supported right to carry legislation and will continue to support the rights of lawful gun owners.
Under Louisiana law, a current and valid concealed handgun permit issued by another state is valid within Louisiana if a current and valid concealed handgun permit issued by Louisiana is valid in that state. We must continue to ensure that we keep guns out of the hands of criminals while protecting the rights of honest gun collectors, sportsmen, and owners who possess firearms for traditionally lawful purposes.
Although I am not a member of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, please be assured that I will keep your thoughts in mind should relevant legislation be considered by the full Senate for a vote. As always, thank you for writing and I trust you will continue to contact me on matters of mutual concern. Please feel free to visit my website at www.senate.gov/landrieu for information on legislative affairs.
With kindest regards, I am
Sincerely,
Mary Landrieu
