I'm such a gift wrap nerd. I love this idea because I'd fill a big wok with Asian sauces/spices and cellophane it with a big pretty bow

Get the apron. Wear it and it only. BJ in the kitchen. Perfect kitchen gift.

You mentioned he has quite a collection of knives. Back home in Alabama, there was a traveling knife sharpener (had truck/trailer). One year, I got my mother's knives sharpened for her B'day. Seriously, I was amazed at what he did and how it completely changed her entire utensil collection. They were MUCH better than new. I'm actually looking to get my collection sharpened next year.
Raiding the knife blocks and drawers does ruin the surprise of the gift but look to see if there's a place in Lafayette/BR/NOLA that offers a gift card.

Knife sharpening. Also a great idea. Thanks!

Looks like he already has a kitchen rack.
Can't believe you have a bf you are exchanging gifts with. Good for you.
I have a ton of knives, and have bought many sharpening devices over the years, but would LOVE to have them professionally sharpened. They are so much easier to keep up once someone has restored their original edge. That would be a great gift. Ask some of the hair salons near you who sharpens their scissors for them.

Get him a nice sushi-making kit.
Or maybe a really nice set of knives.
My SO cooks constantly and has commented that "any good chef has a good knife" or something like that.

The closest Penzey's store is in Houston, but I order from them online all the time. Excellent products.

I enjoy Louisiana Cookin' and Louisiana Kitchen magazines a lot and have given them as gifts to many all of whom renew the subscriptions.
