Let me check and see how much I paid for the Blantons, this place also has Parish Grand Reserve on the shelf in case any of you beer mavens are interested.

Type in Pappy Van Winkle in your local craigslist and post a picture of what comes up. I think I have a few bottles I could part with.

Holy crap
Very stupid question but can you buy whiskey in barrel and just store it for as long as you want to age it yourself?

Yes you can but just because it is older does not necessarily make it better.
I know some guys that have a barrel of Jack Daniels and George Dickle and I have tasted some that was taken out over a span of 5 years. To me the younger sample was better.

Whole Russels line is good.
Haven't had it in a while, I'm gonna grab some single barrel this week.

I saw a Blanton's on the shelf in BR this week for $49.99. Also some Weller 12 for $26.99.

Went to Dinner Lab in Baton Rouge last night. The last meal had the following drink as a pairing. It was very good and reminded me of a light a and refreshing Old Fashioned. I am going to try and duplicate.

Where was the Weller 12?
There were 2 bottles. They now reside in my liquor cabinet.
