moneyg..
Like I said..everything is in place, and if we string 2-3 more top 5-10 recruiting classes together...we're there.
THese guys have proved they can coach. Yes, a Manziel DEFINITELY accelerates the timetable, and makes an Avg team VERY good.

skullwork...it's OK to be unique/ diff, it appeals to some. Kyle Field isn't considered a top 5 environment for nothing.

The rich get richer (see LSU), just keep Johnnie in the pocket and see what happens.

meh.

A&M is still A&M. It wouldn't surpise me one bit to see A&M lost 3+ games in the conference next year. In fact, I'd say that is likely.

I remember the streak of 10 win seasons and recuriting domination of 85-95 fondly. (and the good years in the mid 70's)

what you're not saying is that these periods ended with ncaa sanctions. in other words, y'all cheated to be good. what MAY be different now is that in the SEC you're not under tejas shadow and for the first time in modern history you are standing on your own and may not have to cheat to get the best players. i, too, have been following a&m football for a long time. for what it's worth (now that you're pissed off at me), i hope you do do it the right way this time. a lot of the past shenanigans were because the entire SW conference was blantantly cheating and y'all probably had to to in order to get any players at all. i know more than one SMU player from their infamous time and it was really bad man, worse than bear bryant bad.

Except their conference schedule next year is absurdly easy. Or at least as easy as an SEC schedule can be.

Their east draw is a joke with Mizzou and Vandy. They get Bama at home. They are better than Arky, Auburn, Ole Miss, and Moo State. Their season will hinge on Bama and @LSU.

Their OOC schedule is pathetic.

SEC team in Texas...not really that hard to figure out.
their success has nothing to do with them joining the SEC this year. They would still have sumlin as their coach, a heisman winning qb, and probably be 11-1, if not undefeated if they had stayed in the big 12. And besides, putting a beatdown on texas and that inexcusable defense would have paid even more recruiting dividends than the sec talking point has, easily.

Yea, the "battered Aggie" in me wants to see us string 3-4 10 win seasons in before I believe we're relevant again.

I hate to say it but dude ya'll relevant again. Texas am is what's hot right now and if i didn't bleed purple and gold and was a number 1 recruit i would go play with johnny football 2.

I hate to say it, but it's only just begun. All of those Texas kids can now play in the SEC and stay at home. They will be a powerhouse soon.

LOL. They struck lightening in a bottle with Manziel. Otherwise, they would be a .500 team in the conference.

I guess it's possible that they could capitalize on the success moving forward, but that would mean a significant strengthening of the program from where it was when it entered the SEC.

In short, you may end up being right but for all of the wrong reasons.

Obviously I didn't think they'd win 10 games and have a heisman trophy winner, but the bottom line is, it's an SEC team in Texas...you'd have to really suck not to have success.

el duderino-you say that their success has nothing to do with them joining the SEC, well i respectfully disagree, I think the numbers put up by JFF in the SEC compared to putting up the same numbers against B12 was a major deal. Do you think for example, a loss to Baylor instead of a loss to LSU would have changed the outcome of the voting. The Bama game WON him the Heisman.

While the Baylor game LOST the Heisman for Klein.

Who are they losing to besides Bama and LSU (if they lose those games)?

LSU Grandad..not pissed, MOST of what you say is true. There was definitely some "selective" enforcement also..ut had 2 X the violations A&M did in the 80's but hey they're Texas right?
I know ALL about the SMU shennanigans..DIFF scale entirely. I grew up right next door (Park Cities) and had 7-9 pretty good freinds who played there (early 80's)
