I hope he gets his academics corrected and can go on to play college ball.
The feel I get is that the kid has academic issues because he is trying to graduate in three years.

Grade problems, that is why he is not being heavily recruited. This came from a recruiter.
Grade problems? I remember when Vandebilt had academic standards for athletes.

From what I understand it's not a grade issue but an eligibility issue in regards to playing his senior year. He's trying to finish up high school in 3 years because he will be 19 before his senior year and not eligible to play.
That is correct. Will have to be college or prep school next year, and which road is still up in the air right now.

Oh ok,thanks for the info.
So help me here.
He does not become eligible to play ball in HS at 19, so the fear is if he cannot finish he will be forgotten due to not playing his last year of school??

They do but him trying to finish in 3 year explains a lot.

If he is good he won't be forgotten.

Like I said, still trying to figure out his aggressive charge to finish this year? In doing this he is now put himself in danger of a GPA issue.
The only reasoning I can see for him doing this is so he does not lose his momentum with the recruiting season.
I agree if he is that good he should be still in consideration but who knows.
Good info sharing guys, answered a lot of questions.
Thanks to those who have been helpful.

That is exactly why. There is no reason for an 18 year old kid who can play D1 to sit around an extra year in HS not playing football. If he can graduate this year that is what he needs to do because he'll lose a ton of momentum sitting out next year.
FWIW Vandebilt Catholic plays Neville on Friday at Neville so I'm hoping we'll hear some more about McGuire from some of the Neville posters who frequent this site.

Yea...going to be a tough game for the Terriers, everyone is picking Neville to roll over them.
It would be nice to get some other opinions of him playing.

well if McGuire is legit this is the type of game he can really make his mark. Sometimes when you are borderline with academics you gotta show up in the playoffs and give LSU no choice but to take you, a la Micah Eugene.

I've talked with people with kids on the Vandy team and they said every opponent knew if they stopped Eli, they stopped Vandy. But no one has been able to stop him - yet. I think Neville has the D to contain him better than anyone else has.
That should be a very entertaining game with Diarse and McGuire. From what I've seen of both, they are similar in style - very elusive with excellent vision to set up blocks.
BTW, here is a thread I posted 3 weeks ago.

He will qualify. He has been working very hard and has taken correspondence classes which allowed him to skip jr year to not sit out his sr yr. He was offered a full ride to ULL saturday. ULL has offered him as a rb which he would like to play. I think LSU will end up offering late.

Here's a link to a bunch of single game highlights from this year. Looks legit to me.
