Took my friend Kevin and his wife fishing out of Bait INC. Yesterday. We got there after the sun had been up for about an hour. Too frickin cold to get there at the arse crack of dawn.
Launch was full. Word is out about the area for sure.
Anyway, headed straight for the Boh Bros rocks. No fish caught.
Headed to the Hot water canal. Baby Jack's everywhere.
Headed to the new locks at the sea wall and it was keeper trout eery cast Carolina Rigging Lemonhead Matrix Shads.
Live shrimp produced also for my friends wife.We finally got her fishing with artificials and she slowly got the hang of the technique.
Anyway, the tide did a 180 after we had about 25 in the boat and shut down.We parked on the other side of the seawall gate and tried for a bit and only caught a few.Other boats seemed to be doing the same.
Decided to make the short run to the Castle in Lake Borgne and hit paydirt. Seagulls working bait for miles.Anywhere you threw a bait and it was fish on.Buncha throwbacks mixed in but they were hitting anything.Under cork, tightlined, carolina rigged, topwater. Didn't matter.
About 2:30 we finished off our limit of 75 and headed back in.Musta threw back as many as we caught.Man what a bad arse day to be on the water and I'm pretty sure we left a pretty good saltwater fishing impression on my friends wife.
Here's a box shot before we headed to the Castle.
