According to that Twitter, which is that of a beat reporter for the Charlotte Observer so I trust it, Cal said the flop comment was a joke.

He thinks we're going to buy that?

Cal does not tolerate selfish play not does he allow them to slack.

I believe this 100%, his guys play their hearts out for him, and I credit him with that. He gets the most out of them effort wise and defensively. Not questioning that. I simply question how much he develops his guys offensively in the little amount of time they stay at UK.

What he did was get his fanbase to buy it. I really think he meant no harm in it. He just knows how to work a crowd.

He should have had Bledsoe and Wall run up from the 3 point line and shoot floaters, kind of like Curry did at times today.

True. We were just so, so off that night from the floor though. And WVU hit a little bit of everything. You know how it is. You have one of those nights and if it happens during the tourney you're curtains.

Personal hatred for Calipari aside, I try to be fair with UK. I begrudgingly loved watching Davis, Gilchrist, etc play. They were so good, and Lamb plays like a classic Duke gunner so you knew they were balanced.

I may or may not admit to liking Shane Battier at some point. It depends on who's reading.

On paper, this UK team isn't good. HOwever, no one is good besides IU so a lot of strange stuff can happen. WHich is why I laugh at pundits who forget the first 90 percent of last year, and think DUke will lose early in the NCAAs this year.

I think there's certainly more parity. And I think Indiana is overrated personally. You all will have a strong team come March and will make a run. Certainly better then your friends up Tobacco Road.

No, is it good or bad? I assume it's strong already.

Yeah it's pretty strong. Landed the Harrison twins (soooo excited about those two), Young, and Lee. In on Wiggins and Randle.

Josh Harrelson, from end of the bench to 2nd round pick
Boogie came in with an good post guy that acted like he was 2. He left as a great post player and acted like he was 5.
Darius Miller was fading under Gillispie, rose under Cal.
How about Polson, who played 7 mins all last season played 21 in the 1st game of the year and had 10 points, He makes kids better. If they didn't guys that came in behind them, would pass them in the draft.

You know that cliche that's gone around since he's been at UK? "this group may be the best ever", well it's that again. We will have a couple holdovers from this group and next year's team will be NICE.

IU played Kentucky as well as anyone last year and they're almost all back. I am scared of them. The match in Atlantis with Louisville will be a great test, too. Second best team in the country.

UK's 2013 class is amazing. Harrisons seem like shitty kids, but they are talented and Cal seems to make shitty kids (Tyreke and COusins, for example) buy in to a certain degree. He also has tons of good guys like Davis, Knight, Lamb, and Poythress so that's not meant to be a back-handed compliment. The only guy he couldn't get anything out of was Orton.

Lee should be a professional volleyball player, but since he isn't going to drop out of high school and move to Russia, he'll torment teams in the post instead. And i expect he will stay 2-3 years, minimum.

I am curious to see if you get any of your remaining 3 targets. I could all 3 of them heading elsewhere. Not that it changes much. Instead of having the best class since the Fab 5, they will just have teh best class is the last 2 years

At first I thought you were talking about positions, and I was thinking...no, he always played in the post.

Fwiw, I think Randle is going to Florida or Texas. Your best shot is with WIggins. My friend is a mild Arizona insider and thinks they lead for Gordon.

These two are always my sticking points when it comes to Cal's ability to develop guys. Harrelson was all over the place when he got to UK. Cal went a long way into turning him into a very solid post presence.

Miller. I don't think anyone knew how far gone he was post-Gillispie. He fricked him up mentally bad. The kid is good as gold too so he's not even remotely a headcase but was forced into his shell. So bad that he literally passed up the game winning shot against Ole Miss two seasons ago and Cal had to really sit him down and get into his head that he's not an abusive arse who is going to make him walk to the hotel with a concussion over a missed shot but that he had to step up and be the leader. I don't even know where he'd be at this point without him to be honest.

I know his public perception of him is bad and deserved. I had the pleasure of spending a lot of personal time with him and he's so different than on the court. Nice, polite, funny. Just a good kid. As he said"when I go on the court, I'm mean as shite".

IU is good. Really Good. Louisville has to prove they have a guy that can make a bucket when needed that doesn't involve some crazy drive over the shoulder granny shot he tries. If they find this, they are really good. It should be a hell of a lot of fun this season.

I'm just not buying into the IU hype. My living just across the river principals won't let me. I actually think Louisville might be the better team when it's said and done. We'll see though. I have certainly been wrong before.

I used to sweat the recruiting. Now, just sit back and watch. There is no doubt that Cal was being honest when he said "I tell the kids to convince me why I should take you". The kids that don't like this, are the ones he doesn't want. See Cj Leslie.

I mean don't get me wrong, he's missed on a couple. And I'm sure he'll miss on a couple more before it's all said and done. He just has the very uncanny knack of finding a more then serviceable replacement.

That said, I agree that he clearly knows there's a certain kind of kid that can handle the fishbowl at Kentucky and the pressure he puts on them.
