Are you the guy that in previous threads said you didn't understand people keeping a gun because of sentimental value or something like that?
Never make financial decisions based on sentimental value. Practicality > Sentimentality.
And hell, they're dead so I'm sure they won't mind.

FYI- Don't shoot steel shot through the gun...

There are Browning Auto 5's in 16 gauge and then there are the ones with "Sweet Sixteen" engraved on the side.
Either way, the gun in mint condition is a pretty valuable piece. If its dinked up consider using it as a "shooter" but you cannot use steel shot out of that gun.

I actually saw this website but had trouble seeing what I was looking for. Had clicked on the A-5 part and thought that what I found didn't even resemble the other serial numbers. But my mind has been fried today too.

I have two colts that my paw paw carried around the pacific. They are worth more to me than my truck.
It's not a "financial decision" at all.

If I was trying to save myself from dying in a post war apocalyptic wasteland, sure.
If I'm living in my air conditioned house, no damn way.

Thanks for the warning. Just got it today and still trying to research as much as possible.

Yeah, it is in perfect condition. I am going to take it by a gunsmith to make sure all the parts are still right and working. Don't want to do anything myself since I am new to the process and don't want to hurt the value of the gun itself by making rookie mistakes.

Yeah, I couldn't identify your serial number.
Look on the bottom of the gun for the serial number as shown...

Love it!
Hey, I know I'm in the minority here. Just my view. I don't mean to be controversial and certainly respect anyone feeling the way they do about hand-me-downs. I'm just not one of them.

You're brother is an idiot.

My pawpaw threw away an old camera that my great uncle brought back from germany that he got off a nazi in WWII because "That damn thing didn't work anymore"
It had pictures on the film that were never developed. I'm still mad at him for that

There is no way I'd sell it if I were you. That being said if you do want to sell it I will gladly buy it. I really want a .16. It's an awesome gauge.

Thats where I got that number from.
And looked on their website. They will give you all the info you want, as long as you cough up $40 at the same time.

Well, if walmarts were as big now as they were then, he wouldn't of had any problems.
