Agree. Not seeing a 3-4 loss season next year. If we don't lose 3-4 this year with all the issues we've had with injuries and discipline then we should be fine next year.

As for early entrants, Mingo and Monty are gone. My thought is that Minter is the only one of the other 4(Minter, Reid, Simon, Logan) that has played well enough to leave. I do see Simon leaving but it has nothing to do with his play. I don't even think he's been our best CB this year. Reid's status comes down to 2 things imo. What other Jr Safeties leave(mainly Elam at UF) and academics. His family is huge on academics and if he hasn't finished his degree then I see him sticking around. If he has then it's a tossup. Logan needs to return. Too inconsistent this year. Can Minter really improve his stock more than it is right now? If we can get 2-3 of those 4 back then we made out well.

Depth

QB-Mett, Rivers
RB-Blue, Hill, Hilliard, Ford; I think Ware is gone
FB-Copeland
WR-Beckham, Dural
WR-Landry, Johnson, Magee
WR-Boone, Leslie, Wright
TE-Jacobs, Dickson, Smith
LT-Faulk, Hawkins
LG-Collins
C-Porter
RG-Turner, Williford
RT-Alexander, Hawkins

DE-Rasco, Allen, Herron
DE-Hunter, Maclin, Neal
DT-Johnson, Ferguson, Gilmore
DT-Logan, Thomas, Johnson
LB-Alexander, Louis
MLB-Feist, not sure how depth goes here. Minter would be a huge loss
LB-T. Jones, Barrow, Jones
CB-Mills, White
CB-Collins, Raymond, Thomas
S-Loston, Martin
S-Thompson, Sandolph
Nickel-Eugene

Also that DE depth takes a huge step forward with just one of Beckwith or Williams. Either would see the field next year. And I am expecting big things from Frank Herron.

Not that I am expecting to get him, but RSJ would be the perfect addition to our veteran receiving corps. Not to turn this into a recruiting thread.

2 out of Kwon, Debo Jones, and Tahj Jones need to be at OLB. Barrow is so slow. I think they might move barrow inside if Minter leaves early.

if minter returns he may well be the featured MLB in all of college football.

right or wrong i think simon makes the jump. he and reid both have kids which is something to consider. would love to see logan return but freak will step up there, will just need someone else to emerge.

if mingo and montgomery are first rounders there really isn't a reason to return but i'd love it if they did.

but Jalen has been so freaking solid.

After watching J Collins play in nickel packages the first few weeks I was very impressed and surprised that he didn't win the starting job outright from Mills. At that point I hadn't seen much of Mills and I still haven't...ten games into the season and Jalen Mills is hardly ever on TV. I started realizing, that's the point, this guy is so good they hardly target him anymore. Mills could be as good as Claiborne next year, and Collins is a top-tier SEC talent IMO. If Simon comes back next year we will continue to lock down receivers. This will be critical next year because our front seven might need safety help from time to time. Just amazing the talent Les Miles has run through our secondary the last five years.

With the new rookie pay scale if you are projected 3rd-4th round you make the jump.

Hopefully we aren't 2008 bad next year on defense. But we could be.

Not unless Chief leaves. And don't forget, the interceptions given up by LSU's offense in '08 contributed mightily to exposing the Tiger's lame defense.

Logan: I can't tell you where he'd be drafted but it's the same this year as next. No reason to stay another year. His stock won't improve.

Simon: Ditto Logan. Is Simon going to improve his stock with another year at LSU? Of course not. Go pro, young man.

Reid: Reid will be much sought after by the pros. Folks are exaggerating his slipshod performance against two rent-a-wins early in the year to say that he hasn't played well. He's not a great cover guy, and he never will be. But he's an elite run stopper and has the height and speed to cover TEs and deep half in cover two. He goes pro this year and is drafted top 65.

This site not convinced any of the Tiger juniors are coming out. This is the first two rounds of 2014 mock draft. I do think some of them will declare. Hopefully not a full-blown mutiny.

What the frick dude.

Let me guess, after the Florida game you had LSU at 8-4 for this season among all the other negafreaks?

LSU is extremely young and guys are getting excellent playing time NOW.

You also need to realize what others are losing around the league. Bama is losing at least 3 starting O lineman. LSU with Mettenberger now with SEC experience behind him and possibly 2 crucial big time receiving threats on the way.. LSU with their fresh new line gelling already gaining experience.. That is LSU football. The line. Not to mention you get your starting LT back.

I read an article that said Reid was supposed to be the leader of D instead he was the problem, it is to his advantage to come back.

Regarding Reid: Anyone thinking his play has dropped vs. LY is mistaken. He has simply had to play the role of a more traditional safety. Last year he could be much more aggressive with Mo at corner. He could very well leave and go early in the draft.

I think we may be fine next year on defense; the LB's may step up and take the reins from the line.

Either way, offensive improvements lesson the blow on defense.

Regarding depth: Never underestimate players who haven't seen the field yet.

Simon is not leaving. He has no business leaving. He stays he can very well project himself as a first round grade, especially being the #1 cb on LSU's defense.. given the recent success of the others.

Minter I believe stays as well. Either way LSU also has so many speedy young linebackers now.

The 2 DE's are gone, but some say they aren't really living up to their status with sacks any ways. (I'm not saying that, I love and appreciate both of them)

Reid IMO was having somewhat of a regressing year (only cuz he was a monster last season) but he has regained his premier status and I now believe he is gone.

Really and truly the main guy I am concerned about losing is Logan. Ego is awesome too tho!

Exactly.. I thought the LSU D may drop off a little this year because of so much youth and they are as fundamentally sound as ever. Very impressive.

LSU's offense returning next season is flat out awesome. As long as the line continues to gel and gain big boy experience. This is what makes LSU football LSU.. You aren't losing any starters here and on top of that you are adding more playmakers and an SEC experienced QB with an NFL arm.

Next year looks extremely promising. Especially with Wilson leaving Arky, Bama is beatable at home especially losing all their o-line (which is where they like LSU make a name for themselves). Florida with Driskel does not concern me. Plus get them at home. A&m having to come to LSU does not bother me. LSU has the speed and power on D to shut Manziel down.

If Murray leaves UGA then next season gets even more exciting and looks very promising. I don't think he leaves, but we can still win that game.

3-4 losses next year? no way

it'll be interesting to see how we do next year vs them. We will not have 2 speedy DEs like this year to help contain him.

I think the only shots to return are logan and simon. I think the rest are gone. Minter, Reid, Mingo and Sam. Just my IMO.

Barrow at MLB with Kwon and Debo flanking him would be a pretty nice LB trio if Kevin leaves.
