The talent we have coming back next year is just sick. On offense we're only losing Lonergan, Josh D, Hurst (already gone), and Russell Shepard. On defense it will be impossible to replace Mingo, Montgomery, and we lose Edwards and probably Reid, and possibly Minter. Everyone else should be coming back for more.

I could see Ware making the jump to the league but I'd have a hard time seeing Ford leave. What will the depth chart look like next year?

I honestly don't think Reid has played well enough this year to leave early

I thought about that, but then I asked myself, if there a better safety in the country? I couldn't think of one.

We probably lose Logan on the DL.

I think Simon and Reid are both staying.

Check McShays list of top 5 DB...he's got either 2 or 3 safeties up there. No Reid.

Reid is projected to go in the first round he is not staying! Logan is also a first round pick or high second. He is gone.

Mingo
Montgomery
Chancey A.
Edwards
Logan
minter
reid

We will have no depth at DE

a strong offense through.

Reid is to projected first round right now. Things can always change over a few weeks and with a good combine, but today I don't think he would go first round. He has not been as impressive ths year.

I don't think Minter is a lock to leave. In fact I bet he stays. You're right on Logan I bet he's gone.

And we have strong depth at DE, just limited experience.

NFL scouts disagree. He's projected as the 1st safety off the board.

Simon is leaving too. Reuben Randle knew he wasn't a first rounder either but left. The allure of the league is great and some of these guys think they will go higher than they will. In my judgment, Reid, Simon, Logan and Minter will all benefit from an extra year in Baton Rouge. But all four will declare for the draft.

The loss of those four plus Montgomery, Mingo, and the seniors will be very impact full on our defense. Hopefully we aren't 2008 bad next year on defense. But we could be.

2012 was the year. As we have seen, Bama is not as good as 2011. Bama is still probably the best team (I think K State is this year's Okie State Nd i am not impressed with Notte Dame talent wise outside of a few players). But our offense took more time to gel than was necessary and we lost to a team we should have beat (Florida) and lost a heartbreaker to Bama. Squandered opportunities.

2013 is shaping up to be a 3 or 4 loss season.

Bennie Logan could stay, become even better and go higher next year- but not worth the risk for him. Better to be a low paid NFL player than risk injury as a college senior.

Minter - tossup - depends on who else is in the draft.

Starting 4 on DL look solid for 2013; we're gonna be thin on depth though.

I'm assuming Logan, Sam, Mingo, Minter, Reid all declare but Simon stays another year. If Logan stays we are in great shape again but I don't see why he would...

I might be mistaken but someone mentioned that he has a kid and might want to take home a pay check , however small it be.

Logan/Minter might stay.

meh... going by history , not worried.

The O is shaping up well and each year LSU loses 1st rounders in the secondary as well as DL players and yet there are backups ready to play. In addition the LB group is much better than before.

Not so fast, my friend!

While it appears we won't be able to rely as heavily on our defense next year, the offense is primed for a BIG season, possibly the best offense since Miles has been here. And Chief is going to have the D ready regardless of who is out there. He's shown us no reason to not have faith in him to pull together one heck of defense.

With all of that said, Bama, A&M, UF, and UGA could all be better next year as well...wow, that's one heck of a tough schedule to get through so 3-4 losses is certainly possible, but I really like our chances next year.

What? You're nuts. Our offense should come out the gates as good as its been the last two games instead of taking half a season to gell. While the defense might drop a little, it isn't going to fall off a cliff. And Jesus not every junior that could leave is going to. Depth in the front 4 is potentially worrisome, but there's a decent mix of experience in guys like Rasco, Allen, Freak etc and young talent. No it won't be as good as this year but that doesn't mean they are awful all of a sudden. We could be 2008 bad on defense? Seriously? That had as much to do with the co-coordinators as anything.

Logon is who I an wanting to keep and worried he goes pro.

Reid is certainly positioned well enough to go pro but I am hoping his emphasis on education keeps him here another year.

Minter we can certainly survive losing him and I had zero concern about him leaving considering the backups behind him at LB that we have. But man as the season progresses he is looking more and more studly every game. Could be the star of the defense next year if he stays.

Simon hasn't played nearly as well as I expected. He and Reid and Loston have been the db's that have been getting burned most often. Not really hate there but Jalen has been so freaking solid. It is as if they reversed roles as the teacher and the student.

We will finally see the let down next year on he DL. Good but not quite as good (assuming logon leaves) and not as much depth.
